Bruins taking care with Savard

10:09 AM ET 11.20 | For the Bruins, yesterday's morning skate at Philips Arena provided a much-needed sight: Marc Savard in line rushes, sneaking shots past his goalies, and winning faceoffs. Savard, however, isn't ready for game action just yet. Savard reported no pain in his left foot after the session. But he is only days removed from taking off the protective boot he had worn while the foot healed. The former Thrasher missed his 14th straight game last night and will most likely not be available until Monday against St. Louis or Wednesday against Minnesota.

I don't think the Bruins realized how much that they would miss the goal scoring of Kessel...

November 20, 2009  10:26 AM ET

Don't rush him back, we wouldn't want him getting re-injured before he is an UFA, and comes to Toronto.

November 20, 2009  10:27 AM ET

Everyone said Kessel scored because of Savard, but Kessel has 5 goals and 8 points in 8 games.

November 20, 2009  10:34 AM ET

I am waiting to hear from all the Bruins fans about Kessel. I know it's only 8 games in but maybe just maybe Kessel was becoming a good player not just because of Savard.

Check out this idiot fan, Niedermayer was giving a stick to a little girl, and then some guy takes it out of her hands, and starts an all out fight.

Don't hold your breath...there's a report out that he is about to sign a 7 year, $39 million deal with the the B's. It's expected to be finalized early next week.

If he continues this pace, I'll admit to being wrong on that. I was certainly one of the people saying he needed Savard.

Dreaming's allowed i guess........but seriously......its reported that Bostons close to re-signing him.

I heard that too....

Now that Kessel is gone, the Bruins look somewhat ordinary without Savard. Maybe their depth has been overstated a little bit?

Key players had career years last season.

Krejci? Yep.
Lucic? Yep.
Kessel? Yep.
Wheeler? Good rookie season.
Chara? Yep.
Wideman? Yep.
Thomas? Yep.

It appears you've recovered from last night.

I love the unfettered optimism of Leafs fans that every player wants to go there. Too bad he is about to sign a deal to stay in Boston for the next several years, but I wouldn't want facts to get in the way of a Leaf's fans arguments, they never do.

The Leafs haven't mattered in my lifetime, and I'll be 40 next year. But thanks for the deal to send your next 2 #1's to Boston, one of which could be the #1 overall.

Both the Globe and RDS are reporting it. Just a few details to iron out. It'll probably be done by the end of the weekend.

Yeah, without Kessel and one of the best playmakers in the NHL, they are struggling to score. Kinda like how other teams when they are missing their best playmaker tend to struggle scoring, right?

Exactly right. Hmmm. Your powers of deduction are very good! ;)

There is no way the Leafs should have lost last night with that none existant high sticking call. The Ref F'd-up big time.

So more cap issues for the Bruins in the future than....great

Lots of things get reported, and nothing ever happens.
