08:09 AM ET 11.23 | Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who left yesterday's game in overtime after taking a blow to the head, appeared to be lucid in the Steelers' locker room after their 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. "Needless to say, it was a concussion-oriented thing, so I doubt he was going to come back into the football game," coach Mike Tomlin said. However, Roethlisberger said in the locker room that while he did not know if he received a concussion or not, he felt OK.

Let's see if the Steelers have learned anything from what happened to Westbrook. Probably not, which will be a shame.

He has no brains anyway, so how would he know if he has a concussion or not. Let him play...

November 23, 2009  08:42 AM ET

Well I'm hoping he's OK, but that the team errs on the side of caution. Charlie has played the Ravens before if it comes right down to it. Let's make sure Ben is around for the long haul.

Maybe not but he has two more rings than Dan Marino

Now we will see how much congress and the league are willing to interfere in the game. I see a California congress woman with an interest in keeping Ben off the field as long as possible. I say again "witness the beginning of the end". Nothing good ever comes from lawyers and politicians.

Maybe that gold-digging bimbo from Vegas can nurse him back to health?

Very well said....it always worries me to see players getting concussions....even moreso than other injuries. Anything with the brain is scary. That being said, Roethlisberger looked pretty out of it on the sideline. Of course, if our coaching staff would have actually come up with adjustments to counter KC's constant all-out blitz, maybe that wouldn't have happened. Then again, that was a horribly coached game across the board....don't even get me started on Bruce Friggin Arians.

Ace Ventura, for one

When will he learn? Get rid of the football. People keep giving Ben credit for holding the ball and making big plays. Well let me just say he has made more bad plays and been sacked the most of any QB.

How far is Dixon from being ready to play? At this rate the Steelers may need to start getting him ready.

Finally, the Steelers play call became questionable at the end. Why run a toss sweep to Moore? If you're going to run that play at let have Parker or Mendenhall in the game. KC hadn't stop Mendenhall from getting 2 yards all day. WOW!!!

I had a throwdown a few days ago in which I said that players with multiple concussions should retire. Looking at what Big Ben is going through now only justifies my position. Imagine the quality of his life in 10 years. Of course I lost the throwdown 19-10, which only shows me that fans could give a rat's a** about players and only care about fantasy points and playoff games.

Your last sentence truly hits the nail on the head with a lot of the so-called "fans" out there today. Just like the morons that were cursing MJD for his completely unselfish decision last week.

November 23, 2009  09:20 AM ET

Big Ben doesn't know who he slept with.

November 23, 2009  09:21 AM ET

The Ravens need a break. Having Ben sidelined would be just what the Doctor ordered.

Why should the fans care about the players health when they (the players) don't care about their own health? Not the mention the owners. Running backs, and receivers have been getting their "bells" rang for years but now it happens to be the QBs and oh $HIT!

That my friend could be worse than a concussion.

November 23, 2009  09:41 AM ET

Anybody else think that the extra weight that Ben's put on in the last year has made him just a half-step slower? Really. Too many phillycheesesteaks and twinkies. If he's not careful, that half-step might make him more suseptible to big hits and more concussions... He needs to lose about 10-15 lbs.

November 23, 2009  09:56 AM ET

Against Cincy last week there were some hits that Ben took where he didn't look good. I think he's a couple more concussions from retirement.

Actually, Big Ben is third in the league at lying on the ground with big fat guys on top of him.

Aaron Rogers leads the league with 43, followed by Matt Cassel with 34, then Ben at 30.

If that is what it takes for the League to act responibly, then it is a good thing. The players want a third party ( their own doctor) involved. Whatever is nece3ssary to make the League fix the problem is a good thing.
If politicians and lawyers had not got involved in a lot of things ( like conditions for miners just one example ) then you can bet conditions never would have changed for the better there. The Mining companies were not going to change on their own......
