07:25 AM ET 11.23 | First, it was the baseless report out of Sacramento that the New Orleans Hornets were shopping center Emeka Okafor. Now in today's Cleveland Plain Dealer, there's rampant speculation that the Hornets are willing to deal just about everyone but Chris Paul. According to high-level team sources, the Hornets won't be moving anyone anytime soon. The club is going to stick with this group to see what it can do. So any movement this far away from the February trading deadline is unexpected.

What kinda nonsenses is that? If y're cutting costs you have to be ready for the record that comes with it. Money talks in this league. They already degraded the roster by trading away Tyson Chandler so they might as well do a full clean house. How far do you expect to get with Emeka Okafor as your best big man? Wake up people!

November 23, 2009  08:54 AM ET

maybe they can trade Okafur to charlotte for Chandler......lol

November 23, 2009  09:15 AM ET

West, Cp and Posey & of course Okafor (akon's cousin, he looks like him) teams would want.
Everybody else not really.

Ha I had no idea but you can make out the resemblance!

This team can make the playoffs and should. Collison is a stud as I predicted before the draft. Thornton is also very talented.

They've played well the past two games without Chris Paul.

This team ought to be alright if they can gel and the rookies get more comfortable with their roles - they thus far seem to have had the best draft pickups.

If things go south they could probably trade CP3 for some really nice players. I think they have a lot of promise just because Collison and Thornton are both excellent stars considering for a 21st and 44th pick.

I dont think they will even come close to making the playoffs this year. I mean other than Cp3 they have no one to create their own shot or more importantly any depth. They have a bunch oif 10th men trying to be fourth and fifth men.

The playoffs teams will be:
Dallas
Sa
Lakers
suns
Portland
denver
utah
houston or OKC

they made the playoffs last year with 1/2 the roster hurt

OKC is less talented on paper...Houston is too...if this team doesn't make the playoffs it falls squarely on the coach.

West and CP3 can both create their own shots and Thornton looks like the real deal. Collison will develop into a great backup pg in the league.

Even Utah is only 7-6 so I would say that's about three teams they could pass. Byron Scott did not use his talent wisely at all. I guess they face a tough fight for the 8th seed but as I mentioned talent-wise they are certainly better than Houston or OKC.

Jeff Bower already has this team playing better.

Why would the Hornets who are weak inside trade for another SG?

I'll take a stab. For one thing, they are BLEEDING money. If Detroit were willing to take on a bad contract, Nawlins may consider it. They fired a good coach to save money. They are 5 minutes from a fire sale.

Also, I don't consider Rip to be "another SG." He's an all-star SG and a considerable upgrade over anything Nawlins has fielded during the CP3-era.

Good points, but not at the expense of of their frountcourt. They will be paper thin without West or Okafor. They would need at least another big body in return.

Not a bad thought for Okafur-
they should NOT trade West though

NO sould use Rip in the worst way
Ok & west play the same position really so it would be a good
move to get him out of there if they could with that LARGE
contract and Detroit could use some strength in their frontcourt

November 23, 2009  12:21 PM ET

Detroit can offer the following:
The ever-lovable Kwame Brown and his exp contract - good for teams heavy in the luxury tax
Jason Maxiell - never got it done in DET, then again, maybe needs a chg of scenery
Chris Wilcox - not much to say here...salary dump
Charlie Villanueva - after Dec. 15th, you can have him...He's not great but he's a legit NBA starter and he's cheaper than West or Okafor.

It's not equal value but then, the whole premise is based on Nawlins motivated to preserve cash. You don't get equal value when you're motivated by money-saving tactics.

It makes sense if NO had any frontcourt back-ups at all, but behind Okafor and West they only have Sean Marks, Diogu, Wright and Hilton Armstrong.

They would get murdered inside, even for a very good player at the 2. At the same time they have Stojakovic, Bobby Brown, Mo Pete and the emerging Thornton who put up 24 against the Heat and is already averaging 13.0 this season.

Doesn't make sense except to get rid of Okafor's contract but it is completely unrealistic to have so many players at one position, even for a team dumping contract - like Q-Rich right lol?
