06:46 AM ET 11.24 | Warriors coach Don Nelson has pneumonia and will not be with the team for today's game against the Dallas Mavericks and Wednesday's game at San Antonio. He might miss Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, as well. "He's sick as a dog," general manager Larry Riley said. "He wasn't doing well when we were playing Portland. He is really sick. He wanted to make the trip, but (team doctor Dr. Robert Albo) didn't want to let him go. Of all the trips he would want to make, this would be one of them." A team source said Nelson was tested for swine flu, and the Warriors are waiting for results. Assistant coach Keith Smart will take over as head coach until Nelson returns.

"Keith Smart"?...

... haven't seen that guy since he made the jump shot to beat Syracuse in 1987 NCAA title game.

As for Nelson, he should join Hubie Brown, Lenny Wilkens... and take Pat Riley with him into retirement.

With Jack & Nelly out... Monta Ellis is the next high ranking official on that team. Now watch as Curry goes to the bench... who's in control?

Some how the GS has to make FN some how, next article Stephen Curry and his dad went fishing to talk about avoiding drama with Ellis

November 24, 2009  08:39 AM ET

Don't know about the Flu but plenty of GS fans / players already call this boy a "Swine'.....

True... you know your team is doing well when they are not regularly featured on FN no wonder Knicks and Warriors are always up for discussion. Oh well... what's OKC's record?

November 24, 2009  09:24 AM ET

Keith Smart played one year for the Halifax Windjammers in the old 6'8 and under failed experiment.

lol. You know what I never thought about that but your right very true. If a big name is not being traded or a brawl break out during the game then the terrible teams are going to make FN with some type of drama to talk about, he said she said type!!

November 24, 2009  10:10 AM ET

Hey; it's the Warriors. What does it matter who's holding the clipboard? The results will be the same.

I love this quote "Of all the trips he would want to make, this would be one of them." Um yes, I guess it would be. Nice call Captain Obvious.

Ha! You'd think there were only three teams in the NBA...the Knicks Golden State and a rotation of either Washington, Minnesota or the Nets.

No Cavs stories...nothing about Nelson's knee surgery in Orlando...nothing about either LA team...nothing about the Spurs...FN staff step it up please!!!

Trust me the Cavs will be back. Shaq will be out of the lineup again. What I'm really looking forward to is Kobe's injury...

If you???re waiting for Shaq to be your team???s savior, your team has major problems.

Wishing for Kobe to get injured will probable get LBJ injured. Nice work.

I just don't understand why Kobe hasn't had a major injury - he's freaking 31... how long do I have to wait for the evil empire to collapse. I'm not jealous... just a Knicks fan.

He doesnt drink, smoke or eat any junk food. All he does is train..year around. Kobe has been injured many times, but they can't keep him out of game. The guys a freak. He just pulled a groin this last week and was back for the next game. The f'dup finger of his is still screwed up, but he wont fix it.

I beg to differ on his drinking habits... he couldn't have possibly done what he did in Colorado sober...
