09:08 AM ET 11.25 | Rafael Benitez has been assured his position as Liverpool manager will not be undermined by Champions League failure as he admitted the 2005 winners and 2007 runners-up had only themselves to blame for a damaging group-stage exit.

I haven't read the article, but I wonder if it goes in to how much it would cost to fire Rafa. IMO that's the real reason Rafa will say on as coach, Hicks and Gillett won't want to buy out Rafa.

I'm not lover of LFC, for sure. But I do feel for you. Being a Milan fan last year was terrible.

The curse of World Football Daily continues...unreal. Thanks Fiorentina.

However...not sure Rafa should be fired. All big clubs go through stretches like this. Now LFC / Rafa can focus on hitting their stride and make the move back up the table.

Kopper - is Rafa in sole control of signing players? Maybe LFC needs a Director of Football...if Rafa has all control, maybe time for him to give up some of that power and have someone help with squad improvements because he dropped the ball on finding a good replacement for Torres when inevitably, Torres was going to go down with an injury.

It hit Celtic FC, too. Did you notice?
One of their supporter groups stateside got tangled up with the LFC groups once they realized they could grandstand and earn themselves some points from their followers with a cheap shot.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. He's been in charge long enough. It's time for a change to be honest. By the way, these Europa League fools had better bring it. We are going to take the Europa League and we want to go through Everton to do it!

They are getting ready to run Mourinho out of Milan on a rail. The Inter supporters are out of their minds today in Italy. Big clubs, big expectations.

From ESPNSoccernet: "If former manager Harry Redknapp was in charge at Portsmouth, he'd be giving his old job to Pompey technical director Avram Grant now that the struggling club has parted ways with Paul Hart."

Is it just me or if Harry Redknapp makes a recommendation I think I'd go in another direction?

As a Spurs supporter, I am glad that Pool is sticking with this joker.

And dynamo, go easy on Arry. Hes got my side crackin'.

I take nothing from Redknapp in the results department. I'm talking about the behind the scenes stuff. BTW, I'm wondering how many more times he gets arrested before they finally get something to stick on him.

I like you and Keeper, but you're the only two I will ever extend sympathies to on this one. I've made my feelings clear on Rafa. I want him on that touchline. I need him on that touchline.

This is one of the big differences between the EPL and the rest of Europe right now. EPL managers demand complete control over transfers. Remember the incident with Keegan at Newcastle. That's unheard of outside of England.

Sure, someone like Sir Alex can pull it off. But it's too much for most managers. Having a transfer guru makes things so much easier as that person can spend so much more time on scouting and negotiating than a manager can.

Leave rafa ...leave ......

I blame Liverpool fans, plain and simple. Their absolute resistance to anything the Americans wanted to do, like fire Rafa and put in Klinsmann (and yes, I know how that turned out at Bayern) is the sole reason that this guy is still in charge. Only in England can a guy go 6 seasons without winnng the league and still be in charge (Wenger gets a pass because he's won 3 EPL's). If this guy is still in charge come the start of next season, I really do fear for the future progression of Liverpool.

I believe he is, given how he always talks about not having not enough transfer money.
