Can Jordan lure LeBron to Bobcats?

09:23 AM ET 11.27 | Obviously, the Bobcats don't have the money New York does to spend on LeBron James. Here's what New York can't offer - the man who made No. 23 famous. He runs the basketball operations for Charlotte. Since his name means something, why not have it mean something here? Yes, I know Jordan can't officially recruit a player who is gainfully employed. But he probably could remove the cigar long enough to express interest.

as much as i'd like it for my hometown, i agree with in a word- NO. must have been a good harvest of 'mexican parsley' in the tarheel state this year for the observer sports staff to cook up this one...

Ok, this is stupid....thanksgiving holiday's must have t&r reporters fat & lazy......

Laughin at this idea like ha ha ha!

November 27, 2009  09:53 AM ET

Maybe he should play for the globetrotters

November 27, 2009  10:03 AM ET

Well they could play to Lebrons ego...

Rename the team and arena after him, change their logo to his face, name a street after him, have a Lebrons corner in the arena, hire multiple pre-game choreographers, create a Lebron wallpaper and cover the entire (Inside and out) with it, give him the keys to the city (Why, I don't know) and name every day in Charlotte Lebron James day.

Never did I think I'd see a rumour linking Lebron to the Bobcats, ever! Ha ha ha ha ha. I'm laughing a bit at my desk. Frankly while he was a phenomenal player, Jordan as an executive has stunk. Jordan being in Charlotte is not a selling point for Lebron. If this was 10 years ago or so and Jordan and Lebron were both in the league, he'd be a selling point to come to the Bulls. But this is 2009.

Good one.

NO WAY.

I've just about had it up to here with LeBron. I think his lack of committment is actually hurting the team. Why would a free agent want to come on board without knowing whether or not LeBron is going to be there? How can the Cavs make the necessary moves to build the team without knowing whether the cornerstone will stay or go? Having said that, hear this; if he leaves Cleveland, he will never win a championship. He will be in the broadcast booth at ESPN when the Knicks reach elite status. The only other alternative would be to hook up with Wade in Miami. Otherwise, he will be the Allen Iverson of the next deacde.

LeBron needs a place/team that has no other competing ego or identity.
HE needs to be viewed as the one to bring a championship to a team.
There can't be another leader to compete with...on or off court.

Bobcats?

November 27, 2009  11:13 AM ET

They could change the name of the team to the Lebrobcats.

November 27, 2009  11:23 AM ET

To lure James to Charlotte, it will take more than MJ, they need MONEY to do that which they don't have. James is thinking about a big payday Charlotte won't be the one to do it, it'll be Cleveland or nothing because with the way the Knicks are playing, they just shat on any chance of landing him next year.

or Charlotte Lebrons

Let me know when it starts snowing in Hell. Then we can entertain this speculation.

November 27, 2009  11:39 AM ET

T&R is always heavy on the "R" but this is absurd. There is 0% chance of this happening. Jordan is not a draw. He's failed in every non-playing-basketball role in his life and the Bobcats are no different. Plus it's Charlotte! LB would only leave to go to a big market.

November 27, 2009  11:52 AM ET

LBJ to the nets.
He can score 50 a game in a losing effort!
LMAO!

November 27, 2009  11:58 AM ET

As my hispanic friends would say...

... BASURA!!!
