Saints to dump Bush in 2010

06:07 AM ET 12.02 | Don't expect New Orleans running back Reggie Bush, who is due to count for approximately $8 million against the cap next season, to stay with the team. One Saints insider said general manager Mickey Loomis isn't interested in carrying Bush's salary, even if there is an uncapped season. Bush's cap number and secondary importance to the team could create conflict in a locker room where several players, such as wide receiver Marques Colston, are expected to cash in soon.

With the cheaper alternatives already on the roster (Pierre Thomas & Mike Bell), Reggie Bush's days are numbered. He hasn't lived up to the advanced billing and isn't all that durable. With that being said, he still won't be unemployed for long.

They sure didn't miss him Monday night.

Wait, he won the Heisman over Vince Young. He's not over rated.

If only he could play Fresno State every week.

If this comes true Reggie can always go home and cry on Kim's butt.

Who?

December 2, 2009  07:31 AM ET

I think the Saints would be crazy to let him go...I don't think they should mess up the chemistry of this team. I mean the Pats jacked up their team and now look at them!

That is a gorgeous damn hind part.

I can't think of any team benefitting in picking him up.

December 2, 2009  07:41 AM ET

$10 Mil for basically a complimentary part isn't good economic logic. The uncapped year makes it even more palatable to just let him go.

For the right price, however, I'd take him if I needed a running back.

G-Men could use a change of pace back - Jacobs alone isn't getting it done.

Morning, bud - I joined your board. Hope you don't mind an interloper...

I somewhat expect him to stay, at a reduced salary.

He would be a good 3rd down back, but he's not an every down back.

Damn, as a Pats fan I'd LOVE to get him on the cheap. I know he's not an every down back, but we don't have one of those either. Supplement Maroney's power with Reggies quickness. But at $8M, no fuggin' way.

Whoda thought the 6th rounder outta Hofstra would become the Saints' future over the 2nd overall pick? They better pay Colston, the guy is a monster.

Who'd have thought that the Texans would be vindicated after getting crucified for taking Mario Williams over Bush way back when? Williams is finally proving to be worth the pick. Some team will take Bush if the Saints let him go, but he doesn't appear to be an every down back. Who wants to pay big bucks for a change-of-pace RB who doesn't handle the majority of the workload? Al Davis maybe, but who knows ...
