Giants GM's hands tied

09:56 AM ET 12.20 | Giants GM Brian Sabean has been mandated to work the bargain aisle rather than drop-dead solutions, and in this market, he will be looking for those bargains in a very crowded aisle. This makes blaming him for all the team's ills less fun, because it is less true. He cannot spend money he isn't given, a truism that afflicted his development plans in the earlier part of the decade. Most of his decisions (the ones that involve real money) have to be cleared by Bill Neukom, who is proving to be nearly as hands-on as Peter Magowan was.

this guy is into S&M????

Several teams could use Damon. The Cardinals, Giants, Mets, Braves, Angels, and Mariners are among them. He may still make out well. GMs are waiting to see how Bay and Holliday shake out.

18 of his 24 HR's were in Yankee Stadium last year. He will be a much less productive player without a left field porch to take shots at. He's also one of the worst defensive outfielders in the game. It isn't just his throwing anymore.

NOt! ANd plus, as a Giants fan, I'd hate to see Damon play here.

It's true though, It's gonna be harder for me to get mad at Sabean now.

glad to be of service....honeslty, I toyed with a few different things one of them using the San Fran slant and getting tied up. but I've been getting comments deleted at an alarming rate so I thought I should be good.

who's responsible for the zito signing? seems to me that the giants would have money if they had spent more wisely in recent years.

"This makes blaming him for all the team's ills less fun, because it is less true." O contrar mon frere. Let's see Brian "Kick the Tires" Stupean FA signings for the Giants ills. Zito, Renteria, Winn, Alfonso...... should I keep going or do you want to retract this statement.

at times best thing to do is just sign players at low profile,,,,financially 400,000 a piece and to minor ligue contract its best way to safe money,,,,,,,,,,develope them then try to sign at million pr season!!!!!!maybe one or two years,,,,,
