Wild goalie almost quit hockey

11:14 AM ET 07.16 | Josh Harding thought about quitting hockey last October. The Wild's supposed franchise goalie of the future had appeared destined to make the team as Manny Fernandez's backup, but then came the shocking news. Minnesota was sending him back to the minors, giving the job to newcomer Niklas Backstrom. Harding's confidence was shattered. Nine months later, the notion of quitting seems ludicrous. Harding has a new two-year contract worth $1.45 million he signed last week, Fernandez has been traded and the Wild are planning to give him about 25 starts next season.

perhaps a case of wating in line because of the numbers type deal. . . . . . . I think the Wild made a good decision here . . . . had they waited any longer they would have either watched him quit or another team scoop him up and put him to work. . . . . . . .

Him face the Ave's?? I don't think so. I think the Wild are a much smarter team to put the #1 goalie against a good team like them. Any team would put their #1 against a good team.

I don't think they would put Harding against the Ave's. Any team in their right mind would put their #1 against good teams (well use to be) like the Ave's.
