PG doesn't bite on Magic offer
The Magic turned their attention to point guard Jameer Nelson, who is hoping to land his own long-term deal. Magic General Manager Otis Smith flew to Philadelphia this weekend to meet with Steve Mountain, Nelson's agent, to spark negotiations on a possible contract extension. He returned without a deal, or the prospect of one anytime soon.

he was a heck of a college player a couple years back, and has shown he can play in the big leagues too. This is a kid who's star is only rising, I would think

Anyway, he wants a (big) piece of the pie.
He saw two guys having a max contract, so he's thinkin he deserves the same.

This was about an extension of his rookie deal I believe. It's a good idea to lock him up, if they can get him for a reasonable price.
Mr. Sonic-He's not gonna ask for a max deal, nobody would give it to him.

i think he thinks he deserves a pay raise and he does, but i don't think he's going after a max deal. he probably knows he has to prove he can do it on a consistent basis before he maxes out. i think orlando should give him his raise. he appears to be a point of the future. they should just trade arroyo since arroyo will probably ask for more money since he's a pretty descent point also.

Nelson's point of view: Dwight and Rasheed got theirs, time to get mine!
If they try keeping him, they are gonna overpay up the **** though...

I agree he deserves a raise and an extension, not a max deal.

No, hes pretty bad. With Rashard and Dwight having gotten max deals, they should try to pick up Brevin Knight, who can dish and play good D. Let some crap teram with tons of salary cap space sign him for too much.

Yeah right!! that's the problem with these young kids...They do something OK for an year and they want a mx deal....dude!! Jameer is a OK player but he's got a LOT of improving and proving to do. With this attitude I don't see him going anywhere tooo high.
Good Luck!

How can anyone mention "Jameer Nelson" and "Max Deal" in the same sentence. Give him 5 million and tell him to zip it...that's 5 million over 5 years by the way.

I wouldn't mind the magic trading him. I'm not a fan of an undersized point running the team with a shoot first mentality who can't create is own shot or create shots for other people.
He's high energy and has a swagger - a chip on his shoulder - but I don't see Orlando being any better off signing him to big dollars than they are with Carlos Arroyo

I think Nelson is a okay player they should resign him but not for a lot of money because he has not earned a big contract yet..

i think what everyone fails to realize is that he's young and will improve just like other players improve...bibby, parker, etc...none of them happened overnight and nelson is a point guard of the future if he continues growing so its better to get him now and keep him than lose him later and becomes the new jason kidd.

Another domino effect. You sign two big contracts, and now everyone wants big long-term deals.
