It doesn't sound as if Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert is expecting to sign guard Alan Faneca to a contract extension prior to the upcoming season.

trade him to the Cards. it's obvious that he's still upset that Grimm didn't get the head job. not to mention all the ridiculous money that's being thrown around for Guards (See Dockery, Hutch etc.)

He's the best player on the line. Getting rid of him would be a huge mistake. Pay the guy way too much money.

LET HIM GO. WE DON'T NEED THE DISTRACTION. ONLY PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE HERE.

Unfortunately I think not...the Steelers don't want to pay top dollar for any of their players except in rare cases (e.g. Hines Ward).

faneca's apparent whining about the head coaching situation makes me feel real good about mike tomlin. after all faneca is the one who said they couldn't win with a rookie quarterback. good call****. stick to doing your job that you are under contract until at least next year. and stop whining. you are obviously not a gm so **** and play ball the steelers will probally be another dynasty under tomlin based on faneca's opinion

Traditionally, the Steelers will extend contracts that only have one year remaining....like Hines Ward, Aaron Smith, Casey Hampton, Ike Taylor. Even if Faneca is upset about the coaching situation, the Steelers created the situation where he believes he has the right to an extension.

Maybe Faneca would've got a contract extension if it weren't for his comments at the Pro Bowl. The Steelers have invested a lot in Tomlin and feel they made the right choice there. Given their track record with coaches 2 in 37 years. He will be there for a long time. Maybe the team feels they don't need Faneca if he's going to whine about it on national tv, miss meetings, then skip minicamp. In my opinion he did this to himself
