Ref allegedly fixed NBA games
The FBI is investigating an NBA referee who allegedly was betting on basketball games - including ones he was officiating during the past two seasons - as part of an organized-crime probe in the Big Apple, The Post has learned. One source close to the probe counted the number of games on which the ref and his wiseguy buddies scored windfalls in the "double digits." NBA Commissioner David Stern is aware of the investigation and has a report about the referee on his desk, another source said. The official, whose name was withheld, allegedly wagered on games during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 NBA seasons.

The Cavs made it to the playoffs because of the Bulls' collapse during the last week of the season which gave them the Wizards minus arenas, the hapless nets, and your geriatric and much over-rated pistons. The only team in the east that could have beaten the cavs this year were the heat.

When will some of these idiots in all of professional sports learn? Do they actually believe they are bulletproof? Guess what ref, you loose!

You know David Stern is NOT going to like this. He doesn't want the mafia deciding who should win what games.
That is his job....

Some defense on the Pistons part might have helped their cause, too.

David Stern already knew about this. Him and the ref helped the Spurs beat the Suns in the playoffs.
Anyways, the NBA needed attention desperately. They got it but maybe in not the way they wanted.

I feel bad for David Stern. the ratings in the finals are down, Kevin Durant is going to a place that does not like basketball a.k.a Seattle, the brawl at the palace which nearly destroyed the sport, and now a ref is betting on games

How come so many people can't spell "loser" or "lose"?? There's only one damn "o" .. pityful!

If this is even remotely true, this is devastating to the NBA. Just the hint of fixing games is catastrophic.

You know full well the conspiracy theorists will be coming out of the woodwork now and get on Stern's case.
BTW, the Cavs made the finals because the Pistons apparently forgot how to play defense.

Tim Dunca, while a highly skilled basketball player, has one whole in his game. He is probably one of the worst cry babies ever to play the game. The, oh my god look he gives when a ref calls a foul on him is ridiculous. I don't know who's worse, him, rasheed, or c-webb. Tim Dunan is probablly good friends with the flopper vlade divac

woah... this is pretty serious stuff. i'm not totally surprised, but wow, not good for the league.
but it does say "scored windfalls in the "double digits."" - my question is how could a ref affect a game so much as to create such a gap in the final score. i suppose there are ways... hmmm. i hope to find out which ref and which teams were affected by this. there sure will be a lot of unhappy owners and GMs and you can bet (pun intended) that there will be serious changes to the governance of referees in the NBA now. wow.

Wow, why don't you check your own spelling. 'Pityful'? Seriously? Way to be self righteous, screw up.

I 'd like to blame the refs for the Jazz losing to the Spurs in the conference finals, too, but the Spurs were the better team in that series. Whoever this cheating ref is must not have had any money on the Jazz.
I don't condone cheating, but I must say I'm not surprised. It seems to be everywhere anymore. Whatever happened to personal integrity?
