Sometime Friday, commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to hand down one of the biggest fines in NFL history to Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter for his involvement in an offseason fight with Bengals offensive tackle Levi Jones. Porter is expected to be fined three game checks -- a total of $141,176 -- for his role in a Las Vegas fight with Jones. More important to Porter and the Dolphins, however, their prized free-agent acquisition will not be suspended.

From what I read, it wasn't even much of a fight (less than a minute, one or two punches?).

Wonder what Goody's fine will be for six years of killing dogs.

It would have been much less if he hadn't fought with another player, I bet. 2-player fight = twice the bad publicity.

3 game checks for porter equals $141,000??? That's under $50,000 a game, or $800,000 total salary for 16 games.... Sounds really cheap to me...

It wasn't just the few punches but him using his posse to hold the guy while he did it, in a casino I think, that made it news and thus got the NFL involved.

I think the game checks amount is so low for a multi-million dollar contract guy because much of that contract money comes as signing bonus and isn't tied to game day paychecks.

This whole thing was blown out of proportion... Here's the true story... Since Levi will never have a Super Bowl ring with the Bungals, he wanted to see what one looked like... So he asked Porter to see his ring. Levi was so overwhelmed, that he slipped and hit his head on Porter's hand.
