Ever since Seattle starting pitcher Felix Hernandez agreed to a five-year, $78 million contract, it's been expected that discussions with Verlander -- if there were going to be any for beyond the 2010 season -- would look the same, sound the same. The ground floor, it turns out, is five years, $75 million, as first reported by Yahoo on Friday. If Verlander wants a sixth year, it might be a complication -- because a sixth year could tack on another $20 million.
