Kobe may miss All-Star Game

06:45 AM ET 02.09 | Kobe Bryant watched the game from the locker room after receiving treatment for a sprained left ankle. An MRI exam earlier in the day confirmed a sprain. The NBA doesn't like its players sitting out the All-Star game, but if Bryant doesn't play Wednesday at Utah, he probably has the option of sitting out Sunday's game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. If he continues to stay off the court, Bryant will pocket a total of 10 days' rest before the Lakers' first game after the break, next Tuesday against Golden State.

I think kobe doesnt like neither to sit out the asg... but after all the ailments he suffers from, he should take a little, well deserved break to try to heal as much as he can...

He should take the time off. He should know by know that doing what it takes to stay healthy and fresh for May and June is far more important than a few games, especially an exhibition, in February.

Rest up, my 9 fingered friend
You deserve it & its best for the team in the long run

good

Smart move. Kobe knows what it takes to win it all now...Watch out Mike, your throne is under attack!!!!!

Does he want to sit out? No
Should he sit out? Yes

The best thing that's happened since Kobe went out is the Lakers beating the Spurs and Blazers at Portland. With those 2 games, he doesn't feel rushed to come back. I could see him sitting out until next Tuesday, but I don't think he'll skip the ASG

I totally agree! He need to take the break to let the ankle and the injured finger get recover as much as possible

February 9, 2010  08:42 AM ET

Kobe would be smart to take the rest.

February 9, 2010  08:52 AM ET

Big Deal!! Let him miss.

February 9, 2010  09:01 AM ET

Yawn - Leave the drama for yo mama.... He's hurt leave him alone...

February 9, 2010  09:07 AM ET

the dude is actually injured...let him rest up for the 2nd half of the season and get semi-healthy again

February 9, 2010  09:10 AM ET

Mike looks at Kobes 1 ring that he has where Shaq didnt carry him and laughs at the thought that his throne is under attack by Kobe. Lebron has a better chance of ever being in Jordans class than Kobe.

February 9, 2010  09:33 AM ET

Wow, go ahead and scratch the spurs off the list of nba contenders they got beat by a Kobe and Bynum less team.

February 9, 2010  09:38 AM ET

Lakers are playing like crazy without him. Maybe he should sit out the Championship series and let the team win one for him.

Just kidding of course...Go Lakers!

C'mon man. If Jodan didn't have Pippen, he probably would have only won 1 championship.

How many did Jordan get w/o Pippen??

Jordan or Kobe wouldn't have a ring if it wasn't for there other all-star counterparts.

And none of them would have championships w/o Phil and Phil wouldn't have championships without Jordan or Kobe.

Magic was the best during his generation. Bird is close behind.

Jordan was the best during his generation.

Kobe is the best during his generation.

Lebron will be the best during his generation and after kobe leaves.

February 9, 2010  09:43 AM ET

Lakers are playing team ball. They look like the Rockets without Yao. Some kind of way they are beating teams they should have lost to.

February 9, 2010  09:46 AM ET

kobe should not play - his body needs rest - it's best thing for his team

February 9, 2010  09:47 AM ET

Take the well deserved break Kobe and come back after all-star break ready to roll....
