As bad as the Lions have been for a long time, playing for an NFL team is still better than prison.

Seeing as Barry Sanders retired to leave the Lions, although he was still playing great, I would say you'd have to reconsider your statement.

I disagree. Barry wasn't facing the choice of federal prison vs. playing for the Lions. He thought that the Lions situation was intolerable after a very long career there, but I'm sure if someone told him his only other choice was a cell block with a guy named Bubba, he'd have stayed with the Lions.
