The Colts won't pressure Tarik Glenn into making an official announcement regarding his retirement, or lobby him to return for an 11th season, president Bill Polian said.

This would be a HUGE LOSS............I think this loss hurts more than any by far........Even Edge............He has been the Heart of the Offense.......Keeping Manning on his feet!

This "Truth/Rumor" headline is stupid. It clearly says "Colts to lobby retiring tackle" only to quote a blurb saying that Colts president Bill Polian "won't pressure..., or lobby him to return...".

What the hell????

July 24, 2007  09:29 AM ET

Agreed. I fear Glenn's retirement will prove to be a staggering loss for the Colts next season.

My hopes for a repeat have been steadily diminishing all season long. Gonzalez alone isn't enough to make up for all the personnel losses the team is suffering.

Edit: That should read, "...all OFF-season long..."

Take it from a fan who knows. One guy on your o-line can make a huge difference. Hope you got someone good to cover his slot. Will that draft pick be ready? I can't claim not to be happy about this.

July 24, 2007  09:47 AM ET

The colts are lobbying for him to say and will even do "under the table"things to do it!!! With him gone No Superbowl!!!

July 24, 2007  10:38 AM ET

That MacaDamien is some kind of damned nut.

July 24, 2007  10:42 AM ET

Polian's answer:
Change league rules so Colt's O-line
gets to use tasers.

July 24, 2007  10:48 AM ET

He really screwed the team over. Retire before the draft, not a week before training camp.

July 24, 2007  11:04 AM ET

Maybe he spoke with Team Officials before the 07 draft..........Maybe that sparked them to trade next years no. 1 for LT Tony Ugoh.........

July 24, 2007  11:18 AM ET

I think the Colts knew this was coming, if not this year, then definitely next. They were prepared for it, and they respect him enough to let him make the decision that's best for him. Ugoh will be interesting in that spot. Won't be as good, but they'll adjust, that's what good teams do.

Don't predict a repeat. But they'll be close.

I don't think this will hurt as badly as some fans fear. Tarik is a good player, but struggled with false starts this year quite a bit. I wish he had stayed to mentor Ugoh, but am confident the line will do well in the meantime. Johnson did very well in the Superbowl when he replaced Glenn from the first half on. I predice another division championship, with a chance at a bye.

false starts are one thing, but protecting your QB's blind side is another. look for teams to blitz heavy on Peyton's blind side. The other thing it will mean is that they will have to keep an extra blocker in so they wont be able to spread the field as much
