Nike further distances from Vick

The economic fallout of being associated with Michael Vick continued as Nike, with whom he has an endorsement contract, might have taken another step to distance itself from the controversy. On its website, Nike.com, a search for apparel with Vick's name returned the message, "Sorry, we found no product matches for your search." Nike halted the release of a new shoe to be endorsed by Vick but said it would not stop selling existing merchandise.

Come on... not that I care much but you can ignore it all.... just like we ignore what Emitt Smith has to say....(I guess Ron Mexico and his pals and surviiving dogs voted for him on Dancing with the Stars). This is just the court of public opinion.... in the long run... We pay those BOZOS salaries one way or another so we can agree or disagree in this forum what to do with a jerk like him. Hopefully this summer will be a wake-up call for American Athletes..... LINE UP OR SHIP OUT.... You are not bigger than the sport Mr Thug... Just ignore it America's Legend.... Don't read it!

July 24, 2007  08:00 AM ET

Why are you hatin on my boi Emmitt........That hurts....

July 24, 2007  09:35 AM ET

hey Legend.... as a huge huge Emmitt fan, I was embarrassed and disgusted with his remarks on Vick... I wish he just would have dismissed that question and not commented on Vick.... he is obviously a rookie commentary guy who is going to have to learn the hard way...

broke my heart - never align yourself with a guy who kills dogs for fun Emmitt....

also... back off with teh posting comments.... don't read or comment on the headline if you don't like it!!!!!

I actually like the opportunity to speak my opinion and try and get all these Vick loving morons to see that they are following a **** like Vick just because he is good at football... and that Vick is dragging themdown with them...

July 24, 2007  09:46 AM ET

Vick say good by to the MILLIONS of dollars your going to loose on being a complete IDIOT.

July 24, 2007  09:53 AM ET

Who is going to be Briscoe High School's starting qb now? Leinart?

July 24, 2007  10:39 AM ET

NIKE needs to tell loser vick to GET LOST! I won't support any business that supports animal abusers.

July 24, 2007  10:39 AM ET

Oh.....I havent heard about it yet........My bad!

July 24, 2007  10:40 AM ET

Nike continues to hideously exploit child labor across the globe yet condemns Vick for charges which have not yet been proven.

July 24, 2007  10:54 AM ET

Mikey & Nike
promote starving pit bull vs
starving child worker.

July 24, 2007  11:39 AM ET

Thats's funny because you can buy his newest shoe on eastbay for $125.00

July 24, 2007  12:14 PM ET

I agree with the Nike child labor posts. Americans would rather complain about animals. They should be boycotting Nike.

July 24, 2007  12:43 PM ET

Nike has many things to be embarassed about within its empire. This is a very small one.

July 24, 2007  01:13 PM ET

America's Legend,

Let me make one thing 100% crystal clear to you, 99.99% of the public wants to see these articles. We want to know that Vick is having a hellish existence right now for what he has done. We want to know that he is getting the worst press exposure possible. The worse Vick is made to look the better. The man is a homicidal time bomb waiting to go off. I hope Vick reads these! Oh wait, sorry, Vick can't read. Stop trying to cover this up you Vick LOVER!

Rumors have been circulating (most from credible sources) on the Internet that E. Smith actually attended a few dogfights and wagered on them. At this point though, can we really call them rumors? I think it is fairly obvious the guy is a dog-fighting enthusiast. I will never look at him the same. What a degenerate sicko.

July 24, 2007  02:25 PM ET

They can call his new shoe...."The dog stompers"

July 24, 2007  05:04 PM ET

Calbears calm down a little youve already convicted the man and they just got an idictment. I dont like vick, Ive always thought he was overrated. but this is someones life regaurdless of how we feel about him as a player unless you have personal experience with him why do you hate him so much. I mean if he is guilty for what has alleged to have happen then I'm all for throwing the book at him. Remeber it's going to take alot more than what they have shown the media to get him convicted.

July 24, 2007  05:22 PM ET

You probably think OJ is really innocent too, don't you USC fan? WAKE UP ****, they just don't throw these indictments around for fun. Vick is without a doubt guilty in some way, shape, or form. All that we need is for our country's legal system to stop looking the other way when a sports icon is on the hot seat. Vick is a piece of ****, let his future fry. Not a doubt in my mind that he has raped someone in his lifetime, not a doubt that he killed dogs, the next step is killing a human being. Get this clown off the streets!

July 24, 2007  06:06 PM ET

maybe nike is worried Peta will begin to protest there over seas business partners where animal killings are done to make all of those expensive nike shoes they sell, this is a classic example of not standing by a guy who made u millions for years.....way to step up NIKE, I just switched to wearing addidas.

July 24, 2007  07:10 PM ET

They dont just throw them around well they havent convicted bonds yet? and no jack **** I dont thing OJ is innocent. I'm not saying he didnt have knowledge of what was going on but does that make him guilty of beating these dogs and treating them in this horrible manner. Just get all the facts before you go convicting someone. To say

"Not a doubt in my mind that he has raped someone in his lifetime, not a doubt that he killed dogs, the next step is killing a human being. Get this clown off the streets!"

Just goes to show how really ignorant you are!!!!!!!!!! get off the board and come back when you have something intelligent to say
