Penguins forward Jordan Staal was among 14 men arrested around 4 a.m. Saturday in Cook County, Minn., on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process. Staal, 18, also was charged with underage drinking. Staal was at a bachelor party for his brother, Eric, according to their agent, Rick Curran. Eric Staal, a center for the Carolina Hurricanes, also was arrested.

Now I gotta hear all about this one... :D No one cares when 4th liners get arrested...

July 26, 2007  08:04 AM ET

A hockey player getting drunk underage?!? I never would've guessed! (Pure sarcasm). These kids are good, Northern Ontario boys, and up here, you don't have many options for entertainment OTHER than drinking. haha. At least he didn't HIT the cop the way Joe Thornton did a couple years back

July 26, 2007  08:34 AM ET

Wow, I remember when Hockey players used to get arrested for way cooler stuff. Remember when Eddy Belfour got arrested and drunkenly offered the police 1 billion dollars to let him go? They say the next morning he emerged from jail wearing a Fubu shirt covered in vomit. Jon Kordic was even crazier..

July 26, 2007  08:46 AM ET

Unless there was a dog fight at this party, I don't see how this is news.

July 26, 2007  08:50 AM ET

popking: because with all the other s*** going on in the biggest sports in the USA, the NHL needs to keep up. Seriously though, I doubt we'll see a Gary Bettman news conference addressing this, and holding an investigation. Ain't no problem with two good ol Canadian boys getting hammered, and getting a little boisterous. They'll probably do something for Charity in the minnesotta town, and all will be forgiven.

July 26, 2007  09:11 AM ET

Spo:
I agree with everything you said. However, seeing as David Stern and Bettman are old buddies, I do see Bettman holding a press conference so he doesn't feel left out and pad his feelings of self-importance (LOL).

July 26, 2007  09:35 AM ET

Guys everyone has been drunk before and it was a bachelor party not a sex boat party like the last team from Minnesota had lol.
This shouldnt even be in the news and quite frankly people are looking for something that isnt even news with 14 guys getting in trouble for being loud and boisterous.
im glad this is the worst that has happened to the NHL in the offseason and even promotes my belief that hockey players are the most respected athletes in the biz.

July 26, 2007  10:05 AM ET

Fourth liners? I don't know what Staal brother you are referring to, but both are studs, Southern Cross. This story is about two very young kids having too much fun. They are both good guys that come from a good family. Who among us hasn't been drunk underage and a little beligerent? They will learn from this and move on. You won't be hearing about these two in trouble again.

July 26, 2007  10:07 AM ET

You think they called the pizza man from jail?

July 26, 2007  10:49 AM ET

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! When will they ever learn? You'd think what's happened to Dany Heatley a few years back would sober these fools up. But I guess that's what happens when you have bored young men with tons of money to spend. They start doing stupid things. Just ask Mike Vick!

July 26, 2007  10:49 AM ET

yeah whoever said 4th liner really shouldn't be posting anything about the nhl or hockey in general... gotta love hockey players... haha

July 26, 2007  10:49 AM ET

Nothing but a bunch of college aged boys having a great time..got a little hammered and probabl mooned somebody (see harrassing motorists)..I think it's kind of funny...let'm have their fun...they didn't even drive drunk..they weren't hurting anybody..just some good kids having some good old clean..drunken fun...

July 26, 2007  10:59 AM ET

Not this again... Never herd this happening anywhere

July 26, 2007  11:06 AM ET

roamer, you are ridiculous. Obviously you are not an athlete obviously you did not play any college sports. These kids did nothing wrong they were not driving they were not fighting they were not doing anything wrong but keep a couple of people up. It was a bachelor party, if you think getting loud at a bachelor is that stupid i would have hated to be at yours or dont count me for going to yours someday ... lighten up... boys will be boys ...

July 26, 2007  01:06 PM ET

What a joke..what a loser..I mean, can any one please explain how someone can be that retarded?I love to party just like anybody else, but my God it's the same ol' story everytime.....A 22 year old millionaire has to screw up and get married!!!
Don't they know how to make it rain in Canada?I was drunk and married when I was 22...but I didn't have any money. Now I'm 43,drunk,and paying a lot of child support. Can I start all over...please!!!

July 26, 2007  01:32 PM ET

Roamer - Heatley wasn't drunk. Get a clue. He was just driving too fast. The Staals weren't even in a car, they were on the side of the road making a bunch of noise and yelling at cars. Big difference there.

And whoever said "4th liners"... Southern Cross I guess... not quite. Both are or will be 1st liners for their entire careers. You need to get a clue too.

July 26, 2007  01:34 PM ET

STUPID IDIOTS!!!!!!!!

Staal for president!!!!!!!

July 26, 2007  01:50 PM ET

Yeah! That's why they got arrested, cardsfansince82! For doing nothing wrong! That's what cops do all the time at 4 a.m. They arrest millioners for doing nothing wrong! Who's being ridiculous here? Didn't Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and a ton of others teach these boys and you any sense? Apparently not! With your glib attitude towards alcohol abuse and drunkenness, I don't want you anywhere near any of my parties! Guys like you only sober up and take it seriously after they kill somebody. Too late for the unfortunate victims and their families, though. I???ve seen plenty of it and deal with too much of it to know what I???m talking about. You're definitely not invited!

July 26, 2007  02:23 PM ET

Roamer, you are an idiot... plain and simple.
I read that both Staal's went to bed after the original complaint and that when the police arrived, both of the boys were asleep, in their rooms. So, how the **** does that correspond with Heatley driving too fast? or any of those**** doing coke?
Go back to watching soap operas and Pat Robertson!

Sounds like a bit of lame bachelor party...where were the strippers/escorts??
