06:23 AM ET 03.14 | As the Mike Leach-Texas Tech saga continues to unfold, it is appearing more and more likely that the University is looking to put a large part of the blame for what transpired on ESPN personality Craig James. A recent statement from Texas Tech's attorneys to the state Attorney General stated, "Craig James threatened on Dec. 20 to sue the University if it did not investigate the actions of then-head football coach Mike Leach." And that may just be the tip of the iceberg of James's involvement in this bizarre saga.

Let's see -- it's Craig James fault that they fired him? I didn't know Mr. Jones was on the TTU personnel board.

Didn't the school have the ultimate call on firing Leach? I bet that's going to hold up really well in court with Leach''s lawsuit against the university.

"We would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling parents!"

I've no clue how many weird-ass twists and turns this saga will take as it plays out. But I do get the sense that, once all the facts are on the table, we will find that there are no good guys in this drama.

I look for some sort of settlement on or before August 1st, so that the story will be gone from the headlines when Tech's 2010 season begins.

First they let James force them into an investigation then they blame him for the fall out? I take it they don't have lot of high IQ types at Texas Tech.

Leach definitely isn't a good guy...that YouTube vid of him makes me wonder if all the credit should go to his assistants. He doesn't impress me as any sort of football brain....just a sourpuss who hates his own team.

They have to settle for people willing to live permanently in Lubbock. Have you ever seen Lubbock? If North America needs an enema, that's where you insert the tube.

yeah those clips were after wins--cant imagine what the pep talks were after losses. Years before he works at even a mid level program again. James' fault? Common sense says those allegations needed investigating--any parent would have been furious.

not sure how Leach's lawyers can claim their case is stronger; quite the spin doctors. Leach admitted the shed was punishment and not therapy.

As of right now Leach is simply kicking TT's arse in court. He will win and TT will look like fools.

Ha ha ha , well I've never been through Lubbock TX, but they did give us the late great Buddy Holly so i thank em for that, as for the topic, i for one would like to see coach Leach back on the field and be happy to never see or hear from Mr James again.

Investigate allegations???? Kids are getting too coddled today as it is. One wonders what we would be like today if the coaches in the past couldn't make kids practice long and hard in the hot sun....go to boot camp like Bear did to the A&M teams....etc. My daughter, when she first started playing SB at the highschool level, had to run miles of laps (10-20 a day), listen to the coach yell at them for messing up...but they always won the district and were in the hunt for the State which they won her Senior year, and they knew the coach loved them and wanted to teach them to be the best. I went to watch them last weekend and he has been hamstrung by the parents, they get special treatment and as a result are barely above .500, and the girls seem to have no respect for each other. Need to get the parents out of the mix....if they don't like what is going on, then they need to take their kid somewhere else...and Craig should have known what CFB is about, but of course being at SMU he was probably treated quite plushly. Or perhaps TT didn't pay his son enough????

Leach is a odd character and over the top but a good coach. He'll be somewhere sooner than later. The videos show him acting and talking like 90% of coaches and are no big deal.

QUOTE(#12):

And now you are saying that the coach can't punish a player? WTF???? The shed was more humiliating than anything and that is why younger James, and then older James, complained...poor little babies. If you don't want to be in the shed, man-up and play football...do what the coaches tell you and, if you aren't good enough to be a starter, try harder.....

Don't go there with Elvis default. He hates leach and defends james. Has since this came out.

Tech officials never liked Leach because he wouldn't control his mouth and didn't act like a drone. The AD hated him and the University didn't want to pay him. James was simply their excuse to look for a way to fire him. Now it's going to come back and bite them in the butt.

TT mishandled the situation from the start but Leach also should have just shut his mouth about the whole deal which James made near impossible once he started using his bully pulpit to talk about everything.

It takes about 15 minutes to pass through.
