Giants to Strahan: No more cash

The Giants have already gone as far as they plan to go to convince Michael Strahan to emerge from hibernation and resume his NFL career. They will not renegotiate his contract and will not keep asking him to come back. The next move is up to him. "We're not going to beg him to come in," co-owner John Mara said yesterday. "I think we've expressed to him pretty clearly we want him to come in. We're a better team with him on the field. But he's got to make this decision, ultimately."

Damm straight. Strahan, we all know you need the money, and as a Giant fan I'd love to see 92 back.

Maybe he can re-negotiate his contract with Subway?

August 2, 2007  08:40 AM ET

I'm pretty sure he signed the contract - it was fine for him the last couple years when he was making big money, but now that the "lean" year of the contract has come, he doesn't want to honour it? Good for the Giants for telling him no, too many times these kind of playrs pull this and get away with it. He can't play anywhere else, and he's getting fined like crazy until he shows, so good for him. He can pay his wife the big alimony cheques every week, and now he can sign another big cheque over to the G-Men at the same time

I've got plans for that lickspittle Strahan. I'll deal with him, and Coughlin, when I get control of this franchise from those drunks, the Maras.

Tick-tock, tick-tock... RING RING RING RING RING!!

That's your wake-up call, Michael. Get **** back on the field and go earn your 4 mil this year.

You can't even say y.o.u.r. b.u.t.t. ? This site is stuffier than my 80yr old grandmother.

August 2, 2007  10:45 AM ET

This guy already makes too much. I am glad the Giants are telling this guy to put up or shut up. I hope he retires.

August 2, 2007  10:51 AM ET

Calbears-And you believe Arron Rodgers is going to be an all-time great. Strahan(when healthy) is an impact player and a leader of our defense.

August 2, 2007  10:51 AM ET

What a dimwitted, classless way to handle your business. It is not the Giants fault that YOU do not like your contract.

What a small man.

August 2, 2007  10:52 AM ET

I meant to include selfish and small.

August 2, 2007  10:57 AM ET

All he's doing now is costing himself an extra 15K a day. The Giants have made their decision.

August 2, 2007  11:09 AM ET

After making all this money- why has he STILL not gotten his damn teeth fixed?!?!?! I could kick a field goal between those things!

August 2, 2007  11:10 AM ET

fix your gap tooth

August 2, 2007  11:17 AM ET

Strahan was dominate at a time, last few years he's been injured and mediocre. Sure if he plays he will still contribute, and be a defensive leader, but he is no longer an impact player. The thing is even if this guy were 7 years younger, healthy, and in his prime, the Giants still wouldn't be doing sh** because they have sorry a** Eli as their QB. I love the fact he pulled that sh** with the Chargers, because they ended up getting a Pro-bowl QB, and the Giants got a dud. To live in the shadow of your brother, and to play for a city like New York, where your own fans who hate and boo you, is punishment enough for Eli for pulling that crap. New Yorker's don't take losing lightly, and they will call for the heads of whoever they feel is to blame. Sad thing is losing has become second nature to New York teams.

That was a long time ago my friend. Sadly, it is time to move on and find the next rookie sensation. This guy is a distraction in the locker room (see verbal assault on numerous reporters) and has a general attitude of self-entitlement that can only make on cringe. Karma really is a biaatch! (-;

P.S. Rodgers will only be an all time great when he is traded from Green Bay and goes to a team willing to embrace someone with truly marvelous physical talent. He wont get anywhere stuck behind someone who NEVER plans to retire, regardless of the detriment that causes the team.

August 2, 2007  11:24 AM ET

Read my lips.....NO MORE CASH

August 2, 2007  12:20 PM ET

Strahan need the money because that gold digging, greedy, angry, evil pariah of an ex wife of his was given all his money by the courts. This woman has NOT MADE 1 TACKLE yet she gets awarded 35 million dollars PLUS thousands a month. Totally outrageous !!!!!

August 2, 2007  12:33 PM ET

Why is it that some holdouts "deserve" the money, and some do not?

August 2, 2007  12:38 PM ET

Strahan had her sign a pre-nup that screwed himself outta money. She got what he wanted to give her.

Wait I see a pattern here - Sign a contract with the woman and then try to back out of it. Sign a contract with a team and then try to back out of it.

People please, Jean Strahan didn't screw Michael Strahan, Michael Strahan screwed Michael Strahan.

August 2, 2007  12:40 PM ET

I'm glad that the Giants are going to make Strahan stand on the contract that he signed. It was good enough then but not now, now that his ex-wife needs more money. He is 35 and the numbers are not as great as they once was and i dont see his numbers getting any better that would merit a new bigger deal.
