Trainer: Favre in great shape at 37
There are pads you can wear on your ribs, braces you can wrap around your knees and orthotics you can put in your shoes, but when you play in the National Football League, there is no measure of protection against old age. When the body signals the end, it's over. It hasn't happened yet to the Green Bay Packers' Brett Favre, who at age 37 is the oldest starting quarterback in the NFL and the second-oldest quarterback overall. If it doesn't happen this season, Favre can at least be assured that he will be in the best physical condition he possibly could. He and his personal trainer, Ken Croner, have seen to that, teaming on an eight-week program designed to sharpen the skills Favre needs most to play quarterback."Brett, his focus, his determination and the effort he put in, I can't even tell you," said Croner, a performance specialist for Athletes' Performance in Tempe, Ariz. "He looks better now than he did two years ago when I worked with him. I'm talking about movement, physically, everything."

AH MAN! This guy is never going to quite! It does warm my heart to hear he practiced with the high schoolers. I know that must have really thrilled the kids. So Favre isnt all bad. I seem to go back and fourth on this issue, though my stance towards Favre is softening a bit. What they hey, if he wants to play ONE more year I say go for it, I guess. I just hope Rodgers really pays attention this year and gets all that he can out of it. Because next year he will either be starting in Green Bay or somewhere else.

Brett is the man! This guys bring so much to football, something that the NFL really needs this year from all the drama/controversy. Brett is like a kid playing the game, and I genuinely feel that he loves to play...just to play. I've never considered him to be about money, and he's the toughest guy in football. I wish he could get a good team around him.

CalBears, I am surprised to hear of you softening, considering the "discussion" we had on this topic no more than 2 weeks ago. I'm also somewhat impressed by your dedication to Aaron Rodgers, aka Johnny Backup. I hope your right about him, because I would prefer to not see the Pack fall back into the pre-REggie White dark days again...but I am yet to be convinced of his talent. I really still feel that if he was that good, the team wouldn't hold its breath at the end of every season hoping Brett doesn't retire. But I guess we'll see soon enough...

Yeah, we just need to see him play a significant amount to see what he is about. I mean if he plays a season and sucks, go ahead and cut him if you want. Yet when you look at Smith in San Francisco, man, they have given that kid TONS of time. I think all Aaron needs is one solid season of starting to get his bearings. I dont know, like you said, we shall see.
