Walsh public memorial set for Aug. 10
A public memorial service for Bill Walsh will be held Aug.10 at 11a.m. on the 49ers' home field at Monster Park. Former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo and quarterback Joe Montana are among the scheduled speakers. Those two, along with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, also are scheduled to speak at a private service Aug.9 at Stanford Memorial Church. Walsh, who died Monday of leukemia at 75, led the 49ers to three Super Bowl titles in 10 years as coach.

One of the best coaches ever. He brought some thing new to the game. I am not a SF fan but still he was a great coach and person. He will be missed.

As thunderdragon, I have never been much of an SF fan; but as far as great coaches go, he's one of the best and will be missed by anyone who enjoys the game of football. Bill, rest in peace ~ and may your legacy live on in the hearts of many for years to come.
