Irish anxious for WR commitment
Notre Dame, the front-runner in the Michael Floyd recruiting sweepstakes, wants a commitment soon from the Cretin-Derham Hall (Minn.) wide receiver. But the 6-foot-3, 195-pounder first wants to see how the Minnesota Gophers do under new coach Tim Brewster.

thunderdragon-Wow. The Irish have never been suspected for paying their players. They will snag him, and make it 20 recruits.

Hey djsuxalot, the Irish have been relevant forever. Regardless of whether they are good or not they are always relevant because they are perhaps Americas most populer team. Plus they were in a BCS game last year!

The Irish would be undefeated from now on if they would relax their academic standards.

I find thunderdragon's not-so-subtle anti-Catholic bigotry offensive. Let's see if the admins do their job.

I find it funny even though I am a Catholic. What the hell have we ever done!? I bet there are many child molesters who are white, black, Latino, Jewish, Protestant, Muslim, Buhddist, and other cultures. Why do the Catholics get picked on for some priests.

Statistics show that the percentage of priests who were accused of these crimes is actually well below the percentage for the general population (still doesn't excuse it - clerics, as exemplars, should have a percentage of zero).
I've also seen stats that there are comparable percentages among Protestant clergy (and they marry!), and actually a higher percentage among teachers (even though that number is still quite low, thankfully).

eagle - you're misinformed or purposefully ignorant. at dioces that have actually had to allocute + fully disclose all Reported incidents, the rate of incidents is way higher than the general population. what that has to do with ND's recruiting, i have no idea.

Will fight off a priest at 10 years old and you will learn not to like that church or any thing they support.

This has strayed away from football but I feel I must comment about the catholic church. The problem is that many years ago it was realatively easy to join the catholic church and become a priest so some men who had serious "issues" became priests knowing they could escape the public and have a reason why they were not married. When the church found out about these people they sent them to psychologists which was the accepted practice at the time and the psychologists would deem them as cured after several months. As time went by, doctors learned more about this mental disorder and it was determined that this cannot be simply cured by a psychologist. The church as since made it more difficult to become a priest and it takes several years. This has allowed the church to identify those who are trying to become a priest just to escape society from those who actually want to be a priest and help people.

Priests consistantly get their hands caught in the little boys pants,...I mean in the cookie jar...I don't recall hearing of a Rabbi sniffing on little girls cafelta fish. Or Baptist Ministers rubbin on some kid's chittlin....lighten up! This is all in fun...

duany,
The total stats nationwide, especially with all the numbers flying around in 2002-2004, corroborate what I said. Moreover, higher levels of incidents in specific areas directly correlate to corrupt seminaries and administrations that fall under the details farmdogg gave. Thanks farmdogg.
Sorry to talk about non-football stuff, but I'm simply responding to an instigation. Plus the admins here don't do their job.
P.S. - Wa2Sea, if one digs deep enough, there are plenty of allegations against Protestant ministers. The problem is there are so many separate denominations that the media's attention does not get drawn to as large a group as the Catholic Church.
