UT not interested in Big Ten move

The chuckles around the Big 12 might have been audible in Chicago, as word began circulating during the last week that the Big Ten might be looking to expand -- with Texas, Nebraska or Missouri possibly in mind. One report said Texas and Nebraska weren't getting along and that one or the other might bolt to become the Big Ten's 12th team. Talk of discord seemed to be news to folks at Texas and Nebraska. Big 12 schools recently shot down the notion of having their games shown exclusively on their own network. Texas was among the strongest opponents.

This whole article is a figment of someones imagination. The Big 10 has disappointed with the development of their own network.

Why would they win the Big XII is easier, and they are an original Big 8 team?

If Rutgers is smart they will stay in the Big East too. Mark my words in 5 years the Big East will be known as the better conference. If all the raiding stops.

Better than the Big 10 that is

Why do they call it the BIG TEN again? I thought because there were TEN BIG SCHOOLS. Somebody needs to teach these college folk the ins and outs of the ABCs and 123s. Let me guess.... the BIG TWELVE has fifteen schools in its conference. What idiots.

The running joke for ages, footballwise, was that the conference should be named Big 2 Little 8.

Texas and Nebraska make as much geographic sense for the Big 10 as BC does for the ACC, and even less marketing sense. And, sad to say, the expansion talk is for the same reason - more money for the conference.

it was big ten until penn state joined, i guess its too much trouble to change the name of a conference

They should take Iowas State. They already play Iowa every year and they would fit well. Pittsburgh would also work well. Could be a big in state rivalry with Joe Pa. I would love it if Arkansas was in the big 12, but would they go into the North?? I guess they would have to. Colorado State, BYU, or Utah could also work in the Big 12 North. Maybe the Big 10 should add Boise State so they will lose 5 games a year and we don't have to hear about them.

The Big 12 makes money, so Texas will stay. It would also be hard on recruiting and schedulign for Texas to join the Big 10 or the other conference that Texas looked at before joining the Big 12 - the PAC 10. Aside from those three factors - money, recruiting, scheduling - I think UT would much rather be affiliated with the schools in the Big 10 or PAC 10 than the ones in the Big 12.
