Ozzie: Bonds can't play for Sox

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen completely ruled out his interest in signing Barry Bonds for 2008. "When you go out to stretch, you have to go with the ballclub," Guillen said. "When you go out for the national anthem, you have to be out for the national anthem. The rules are for 25 guys, not 24. "Maybe Barry says, 'I don't want to play for you either.' I don't want to say I'm different, but I like when we have team rules, everybody goes for it."

ozzie is a wild man, i wish he was coaching milwaukee this year. i love him.

August 6, 2007  10:27 AM ET

Ozzie needs a reality TV show.

August 6, 2007  10:29 AM ET

That would be a hit show. Who knows what he'll say or do next.

August 6, 2007  10:42 AM ET

ozzie > barry. go sox!

August 6, 2007  10:48 AM ET

After his MLB career is over he should be a Public Speaker!!! I love the way he stood up against the Bullly that Barry Bonds has grown to be. Every body reserves judgement against Bonds but, he sure is quick to point poeple out! Finally some one says what all the coaches really want to say!!! Good for you Ozzie!!

August 6, 2007  10:49 AM ET

I really hope Barry decides to play next year then comes to find NO TEAM interested in him.

August 6, 2007  10:55 AM ET

I agree Hyper. That would be great.

August 6, 2007  10:56 AM ET

Point missed here? Neither will be on a roster this time next year.

August 6, 2007  11:00 AM ET

Hell yeah Ozzie! White Sox fans do not want the Barroid freak show coming into town. He's not a baseball player anymore anyway. He's just out there for himself whenever he wants to try and break a record no one will recognize. Go join a traveling circus next year Barry and embrace the sideshow that you are.

August 6, 2007  11:03 AM ET

So I guess he wouldn't take Roger Clemens either huh?

August 6, 2007  11:08 AM ET

Like Ozzie really has any say in who the Sox pickup anyway.

August 6, 2007  11:08 AM ET

Wow. Ozzie has some ego. He really doesn't think they might fire him.

August 6, 2007  11:23 AM ET

I don't think he cares. So they fire him, at least he speaks his mind. May not always be intelligent but it was this time.

August 6, 2007  11:37 AM ET

Smartest thing Ozzie said was calling Grady Sizemore "Superman"...Oh, and I like that commercial he does for Sportscenter..."You called me Jack"

August 6, 2007  11:39 AM ET

He's already said he doesn't care about getting fired because he's rich already. It allows him to say whatever he wants, regardless of whether people agree or not.

:o

August 6, 2007  11:43 AM ET

Now that's the TRUTH!!!

August 6, 2007  11:49 AM ET

That sportscenter commercial is hilarious.

August 6, 2007  11:55 AM ET

Bud Selig is a coward.Barry has been convicted of nothing but Selig chooses to stick his hands in his pocket when Barry hit 755.Unbelievable.Baseball has been an exclusionary sport from the beginning. There was once a time when only white men were allowed to play the game but now the racism has taken on a new form.I can,t help but wonder how the public would react if it was a white man chasing Aarons record. After all,IN 98,a white man was revered while using Andro and we all know who that man was.For those of you who say that race is not an issue here are sadly mistaken and you all know it.I only have one more question to ask and that is:If OJ Simpson had been accused of murdering two black people, would white america still be discussing that case?.

August 6, 2007  11:56 AM ET

He has Jim Thome thats why he's saying that, im sure if the White Sox were in need of a DH, he would have a different state of mind.

August 6, 2007  12:02 PM ET

Roger Clemens is a cheater but noone will admit it.Hes 44 years old and still throwing at 98 mph. There have been rumblings about steroid use,but those rumblings have been quickly squashed.I wonder why.
