Bucs, Broncos want Plummer to pay

Looks like the Jake Plummer experiment is over. The Bucs, in tandem with the Broncos, have filed a grievance against the quarterback for the return of a prorated portion of his signing bonus based on a breach of contract. The move effectively ends any chance Plummer will play for the Bucs. The teams are seeking a sum of about $7-million, but the matter will have to go through arbitration to be settled.

If this doesn't get Plummer into camp, nothing will. If he's serious he should file the paperwork and get out his checkbook. He may be waiting until someone has an injury in camp and work his way to a different team.

Jake PLUMBER should have had his dumbass in camp, now it's payback time.

Jake doesn't give a damn.

He's content with his career.

He's got enough dough.

He gets enough trim.

He's got a nice spread.

He's got some fine rides.

He's ready to rock on.

With Simms being as frail as he seems to be these days, he might have a better shot at QB.

Pack your bags and head out to Tampa.

haha wow did you say the word 'trim'. Did he also get enough stank on his hangdown? haha. Wow.

August 8, 2007  10:15 AM ET

trim...thats old school. Personally I like:

He gets to knock off a chunk whenever he wants.

I hope this truly about recouping their money, and not about the Bucs needing a QB. Jake is a backup at best. The NFL is so watered down at the QB position. There are two QB that's a head of all other, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning......second tier Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, and maybe Big Ben....then there are all others including an interception waiting to happen Brett Favre.

I don't know what Plummer has ever done in his career that makes him thnk he has anykind of leverage here. He was an average QB at best. Let the bum retire. I'd go after that signing bonus too. Go relax on the beach Jack, but first there's that $7 million dollar check we're going to need from you.

August 8, 2007  11:42 AM ET

surely jake knew this would happen when he started thinking about retirement. it shouldn't affect his decision.

August 8, 2007  11:47 AM ET

I think it's funny that Plummer tried to play hard ball and get the Bucs to trade him, especially to Houston. Then the Texans picked up Shaub and Plummer was **** out of luck.
Way to go Jake. You should have filed your retirement papers and moved on instead of thinking the team that holds the rights to your contract isn't going to try and get something for it

August 8, 2007  11:55 AM ET

Just another dumb decision by Jake the snake.....

August 8, 2007  12:25 PM ET

Agreed SoFlaBoy. He's been overrated his ENTIRE career. It was a waste of 7 mil in the first place to try and get him. They should have to eat that cash because of their stupidity in wanting Jake at QB.

August 8, 2007  01:08 PM ET

he can't just file his papers and retire. the bucs own his rights and he is under contract. they have to accept his retirement papers which they refuse to do, probably until they get the money out of him

August 8, 2007  01:10 PM ET

Ease up on Jake - gentlemen! If you had a chance to play for Tampa - would you? I think not! I totally agree w/ his decision. If he has to pay back a few bucks - so be it. He has earned enough and done enough in the league - go out healthy not hurt........

agreed gdub.
