The belief among some baseball people -- including one American League general manager -- is the Marlins will explore trading Dontrelle Willis this winter instead of likely paying him at least $7 million in arbitration. But the Marlins would need pitching back.

Dontrelle needs to lay off the cheeseburgers, man.

Willis would be a nice fit with the Mariners, but look for the Angels to make a run for him... Reasoning: He's a West Coast guy and I understand if he leaves the Marlins he wants to be closer to home... We'll see.

I'm thinking the Angels will get him if there is a trade. Chone would certainly be a trading chip, his speed will fit nicely into the Marlins lineup, and I can see the Angels going for another strong SP.

I wish the yankees would get him, but I can't imagine the yankees being willing to give up anyone for Willis, as the Marlins would almost certainly ask for Joba, Hughes, or Kennedy, who the yankees won't trade.

The NYY & Boston look like they are set @ pitching for this season. But, next yr is still open Schilling may or may not be brought back. NYY have to decide about Mussina, Petitte, & Clemens so there is more a possibility there, but seeing what the Yanks have in Hughes, Chamberlain, & DeSalvo, Wang who knows what they will do, but I don't think they will trade any of their system guys that they have developed like they used to do. Look for them to make a push for Carlos Zambrano in the offseason & if they don't get him maybe they will try for a short 1-2 yr deal w/ Bartolo Colon?? Donetrelle Willis has some kind of shoulder, elbow, forearm injury b/c he has never pitched this exceptingly bad before. Before of Florida Marlin pitchers:The Good Ones: Brad Penny, Josh Beckett.
The Bad Ones: AJ Burnett, Carl Pavano, & Donetrelle??

I don't see Dontrelle having success in the AL, let alone AL East.

Go to the Dodgers or Padres.

Forgive me if I'm being too personal, but Dontrelle is a leather-nosed donkey nugget.

There's a certain team in San Diego clinging to a wildcard berth and lagging behind the red-hot D-Backs that sure could use a lefty like tomorrow!

August 12, 2007  06:46 PM ET

If he goes to the West Coast it will be with the Dodgers - his best friend JP which he won a WS ring with is a big influence in his decision.

Here we go again with trade talks it wont happen LOL. Like 3rd year in a row. It wont happen.

August 12, 2007  09:19 PM ET

D-train talks and Ken Griffey Jr talks....... They are everywhere, yet nothing comes from them...

Hmm I think Willis would be a good fit in San Diego

Arizona sure could use that third starter behind Webb and Davis, and they've got loads of talent out there in Phoenix.
