Wolverine transferring to Louisville

Michigan defensive tackle James McKinney might be transferring to Louisville, according to insidetheville.com, a site affiliated with scout.com. McKinney attended Louisville's public scrimmage Saturday night, and the Web site quoted him as saying he was transferring. Asked at Big Ten media days about McKinney, U-M coach Lloyd Carr said the player was dealing with an unspecified medical condition and his return to the team was unclear.

THE TRUTH | 08/14/07, 09:47 AM
Report Offensive CommentMichigan is the community college of Michigan!!
If michigan has won the most games ever it's because they've played the game longer than the other schools.
And DetroitFan is right, they ARE NOT the greatest football program ever!!
I don't think any program is entitled to that!!
No matter how many games they won, or how many NT they have. There are a lot of GREAT teams out there, but NOT THE GREATEST !!!!!!!!!

Report Offensive CommentWith academic jokes such as OSU and MSU in the area, Michigan (along with Notre Dame) are definitely the top midwest schools at combining academic and athletic excellence.

Report Offensive Commentmichigan's the best football school ever, bar none. they've easily been the most consistent program and the question isn't if they will win a national championship it's always when they will

Report Offensive CommentHis medical condition is related to his momentary insanity on why he came to play for a clueless incompetent buffoon. Michigan's program has catastrophically suffered under Lloyd's "High School remedial football logic 101". Can't beat the Luckeyes, can't beat USC (or any other Pac-10 school) for that matter, can't win the Rose Bowl, always loses at least one game a season to one of the Big 10 cellar dwellars, etc.

Report Offensive CommentI wouldn't want to get bull-whipped by Oregon and USC either.

Report Offensive CommentJust cause some guy wants to transfer doesn't mean how good a football program has been the last few years. I dont get what point you guys are trying to make.
umfan1235 | 08/17/07, 06:30 PM
Report Offensive CommentIs Michigan the powerhouse it used to be? Give the guy a break. He wants to play on a team that is changing its tradition. Louisville has a team now that can contend. Michigan used to have the team.

Report Offensive CommentMcKinney just wants to join a team that can win a bowl game, and why not do it with a top-10 team located in his hometown? I have to give Michigan credit for consistency (as in consistently losing to SC, the Buckeyes, going to bowls only to lose, gameplanning terribly against scrambling QBs, etc.), but Louisville looks like a team that's sailing a smoother ship than the Wolverines. He may be looking at the NFL Draft too; Amobi Okoye went 10th overall while Alan Branch, the hoss that he was, had to wait a couple of hours later until he got a call.
Just speculation...but it feels factual.
