Dolphins concerned about Green

Dolphins coach Cam Cameron originally had a two-game plan for his quarterbacks that included starting Trent Green against Jacksonville and Cleo Lemon against Kansas City. But following Saturday's poor performance he said late this afternoon he has to go back and rethink the plan. If the plan changes, it must be noted, it is a definite sign the coach is concerned about the progress of his offense -- particularly the timing of Green with his receivers.

This is ****.....Give the man time....He is behind a suspect O-line and has a Young RB. Relax......timing is going to come before the regular season gets here.

August 14, 2007  08:27 AM ET

if you listen carefully, you can hear them saying under their breath..."should have drafted Quinn".....

August 14, 2007  08:37 AM ET

no, that's the sound of Ginn signing his endorsement deals.......and how did Ginn do in that game? did he play? heard the D looked good, even without Taylor, Thomas and Traylor.

August 14, 2007  08:54 AM ET

Looks like Miami replaced a gimp with a punchdrunk old man. Another great move Miami!!!

August 14, 2007  09:27 AM ET

well, Green has always proved to be a more than serviceable qb, so you gotta give him time - especially with all the work that went into finally getting him. Really, its not like the 'fins are winning the Super Bowl this year anyway...

August 14, 2007  09:30 AM ET

I know it's been ONE preseason game!! They can't get it right during their FIRST preseason game might as well just bench the entire offense!! Give them time they didn't even have an offensive gameplan and only two guys playing the postions they played last year on the O.

August 14, 2007  09:43 AM ET

goCanada-I agree that Green has been a much more serviceable, and in certain aspects a much more successful QB in the league. That being said, pre-injury last year Green had a string of very productive seasons(3 straight seasons of 4K yards or more passing yards). That being said, he was seriously injured last year, he's an old man. Combine those two and it's a serious issue. Will he return to the 2002-2005 form? That's a tough one, Miami doesn't have a solid set of recievers as well as the fact that they lost Randy McMichael in the offseason to the Rams and Wes Welker to the Pats.

The jury is still out on Green, I think he's simply been brought in as a buffer QB until John Beck is ready.

August 14, 2007  09:50 AM ET

Its an entirely new offense. I don't understand why everyone is worried already its freaken preseason!!. Last year Oakland was 4-1 while the Colts went 1-3 in the preseason. We all saw how that worked out. And as for the idiots that keep saying we should have drafted Quinn, the spoiled prick didn't even take a snap for the browns and they have two qbs more suspect then green or Cleo. Ginn played well for his first game and returned a few kicks for around a 23 yrd average. Its his first game hes not gonna blow up right away in preseason. People just need to calm down and pull for your team not just bash them every chance you get. Show some damn support.

August 14, 2007  09:51 AM ET

I'd be concerned too....he has never really done much anywhere except show tremendoud ability and fall short due to injuries.

August 14, 2007  09:56 AM ET

i hope Cam's new system does well.....in reality, no one will know if Quinn or Ginn was the better pick until after wk 6.......that should be enough time to find out how they are adjusting to the NFL.

August 14, 2007  09:56 AM ET

Cam Cameron is an idiot.Oh boy what do we do.Save the panic for 5
games into the season when your 0-5 dude not now its premature.lol lol

August 14, 2007  10:09 AM ET

Scrambled eggs, Green....All you are is scrambled eggs.

August 14, 2007  10:41 AM ET

Did any of you watch the last game? Trent Green was terrible! He looked lost, and when he threw the ball he was all over the place. Mostly he was under throwing short slants. Forget about it being preseason, but they weren't even "going through the motions". They were lost. They look like they are on the verge of having one of the worst offenses in the history of the game. Especially if they continue to look so awkward and lost, as they did against the Jags.

Noted, Ronnie Brown needs to stop tip toeing up to the line, and just run with reckless abandon. He's hurting the team with that.

August 14, 2007  10:57 AM ET

If he plays like he did in the first game, I think we can call Walt "Clyde" Frazier because we will get "No Play For Mr. Gray"

August 14, 2007  11:51 AM ET

its preseason people settle down your just talkin to talk right now.

August 14, 2007  12:15 PM ET

Should've drafted Brady Quinn. I say that Cleo Lemon is the starter by midseason.

August 14, 2007  12:35 PM ET

To all those apologists who say "it's only preseason," check out the preseason stats of the other NFL starting QB's. Most of them are putting up great numbers against preseason defenses, which are not game-planned and which do not blitz as much as they do in the regular season. (The exception being the Steelers first-team D, who are bringing it on even in preseason.) Even the Raiders' QB's looked good in preseason! I also don't think Quinn would have been the answer -- he's not exactly impressing Browns' fans so far. I think Lemon will start sooner rather than later, so Dolphins, as the old saying goes, when life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade.

August 14, 2007  01:19 PM ET

The answer may well have been to stick with Culpepper another year if he's indeed healthy now. I've read he's practicing well, moving and throwing nicely in Oakland, and WITHOUT a knee brace! Sounds like they may have been pre-mature letting him go just to replace him with ANOTHER aging QB who may or may not have lingering effects from the ravages of a serious injury...

August 14, 2007  01:26 PM ET

start beck and lets take are lumps this yr and have him next yr with a full yrs experience under his belt

August 14, 2007  02:18 PM ET

Yea, you should have drafted Brady Quinn!! He'd still be holding out for mega bucks and you could just start Lemon.
