A proposal to bring a college football bowl game to RFK Stadium beginning in 2008 quietly has gained support from D.C. tourism officials and a key member of the D.C. council, who have aided the organizers' plan to submit a formal bid to the NCAA. The District of Columbia Bowl Committee has targeted Navy as a perennial participant.

This is stupid!! I'm sorry, but what team would want to go to Washington DC in the middle of the winter? While it's probably a step up over the Potato Bowl in Idaho and the Dirty City Bowl in Michigan, it's not exactly a hot spot that college kids think of going to in December.
Hey Midshipmen, take a vote, the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego or the Ice Bowl in DC...

I'm from the DC area and LOVE RFK for football, but come on - this is just silly. Why in the name of Admiral Rickover would Navy want to tie itself to a bowl game in DC when it could get to a warmer clime? Not exactly the kind of thing that's going to sway top recruits!

Is it really a bowl game when one team is pretty much guarenteed a spot as long as they qualify? thats just retarded.

This is a really bad idea. It makes teams feel a lot better when they can feel like they earned a bowl bid rather than when they are guaranteed one that they may or may not deserve
