Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Thursday that it is unlikely the team will add a significant piece before Aug. 31, the last day for teams to trade for players who have cleared waivers if those players are to be eligible for the postseason. But Colletti did say he will keep looking.

A Man for America today stops his day down and thinks of the citizens of Peru.

More aftershocks preceeding an 8 on the Richter for 2 minutes.

There's no place to go, man.

No heart of stone:

Are the Dodgers even good?

That's it: no more imbecilic quips from me today.

Sorry A Good-looking man. I didn't mean to bring down the room.

Humor is a good thing. Especially yours.

Just glanced at the idiot-box and saw some footage.

Hate to see folk suffer.

August 17, 2007  11:36 AM ET

Hey Ned... how about going back to marketing. Acquiring injury prone pitchers just don't make sense...

August 17, 2007  12:02 PM ET

Why can't the Dodgers get a GM who knows what the heck he is doing? This idiot Colletti cost the Dodgers a legitimate shot at making the playoffs this year by not making a deal before the deadline. Coming from the Giant organization, it wouldn't surprise me to later find out he did this on purpose. HE'S AN IDIOT!!

Indeed.

August 17, 2007  12:38 PM ET

Coletti, just remember that you gotta give up something to get something. Players coming in midyear don't come cheap.

August 17, 2007  03:03 PM ET

Surely there must be another mediocre ex-Giant (isn't that an oxymoron?) Coletti wants

August 17, 2007  04:11 PM ET

Oooohh, you could have had Texeira, Colletti, if only you had been willing to give up the guy he would have replaced (Loney) and a freaking single-A pitcher. Oh well. Enjoy your tailspin and third-place non-playoff finish you loser. At least Plaschke will continue to be your personal lap dog as long as you refrain from using "statistics" or "analysis" to evaluate players and instead rely on 93-year-old scout Scooter McCracken's gut hunch feeling that he gets when his trick knee starts a-twitchin'.
