ETA on return of Brewers ace
Ben Sheets threw a bullpen session of what he said was four innings Thursday and is on track to throw a simulated game Monday in Arizona and then possibly a minor-league rehabilitation start. If all goes well with no setbacks, Sheets could return to the Brewers' rotation possibly in time for the three-game series Aug. 28-30 in Chicago.

He couldn't come back sooner. The Brewers started losing after Ben got hurt. I'm hoping the team can get it back on track with Ben coming back for the big Brewer-Cubs series.

As a Cub fan, I've got a lot of respect for the man. He's been a force on the mound for the majority of his career. Not that I wish anything bad on him, but I would really prefer to NOT see him back for our series together, LOL!

Hahah I wouldn't either. Hey Cubs fans...Looks like Big Z is going to be signing a 90 Million dollar contract soon. I guess they are extremely close to striking a deal. Now THATS something I didn't want to hear. Back to Ben. Sure he's been a stud most of his career but he's GOT to do something about the injury problems year after year. I think he's been healthy one or two full seasons. There is no reason why he shouldn't win a Cy Young before he's done.

Can't argue with you there. Actually, from 98 until 06 I was a Cub fan living in Milwaukee, so I had a lot of opportunities to see the crew play, and I tied to make it to most of the home games (especially when the cubbies where in town). It was always fun to see Sheets pitch because he threw HARD and rarely got shelled to the point that he had to be pulled. That's probably why he has so many problems. Let a guy throw that hard for that many innings a season, and something's bound to give.

Soriano should be back at that time also, hopefully we have a good Pennant Race with both teams healthy that way there's no excuse. Thats a yes on that Zambrano deal paying him more than Zito. 5yr 91 MIl with a 6th year option for 19.5mil

Ben couldn't get back sooner....last month (and you can easily say the last 2 months) have been abysmal.

I'm one of the rare 25,000 people to have seen Ben Sheets throw 18 strikeouts against the Braves. Still have to ticket stub to prove it! Absolutely incredible.

I also can't justify spending that kind of money on a player who plays every five days. Look at what happened to Zito. What a waste of 136 million dollars. I highly doubt the same thing happens to Z but still...thats a LOT of money.

After a rookie campaign with 25 starts, he recorded 34 starts 3 years in a row. Then he had 22 starts in 2005, 17 in 2006 and 19 so far this year. if all goes well, he'l get 28 starts this season. Lifetime 2 games under .500 with a 3,79 ERA. He may be almost good for a few more years, but that many injury-plagued seasons does not bode well for a long productive career.
