NFL players may testify in Vick case
Michael Vick did not enter a plea by the end of the business day; however, there is the possibility that Vick's attorneys and prosecutors could reach a deal over the weekend or early next week. There also is the possibility that Vick will choose to go to trial, which is set for Nov. 26. Should Vick go to trial, Falcons owner Arthur Blank said he is aware that several current players could be called to testify.

"there is a possibility he could reach a plea...there is also a possibility he could go to trial." Wow, that's some top notch investigative reporting. Clearly the AJC has their best reporters on this story.

Other players better hope they don't get named in public or even in the NFL office. If they do, they'll go through the same scrutiny and investigation that Vick is going through now. I still say that this is the tip of the iceberg. I think other players are involved also. Vick just happened to be the first one caught.

The news is playing this up as if the sole reason for Vick to plead is to avoid more charges. The Feds took this case over because they want to take down this "industry", so I can't imagine that he'll be able to plead without rolling on others.
It's a little odd that there hasn't been any reporting on anybody but Vick and company. My guess is that there will be a bunch of indictments in the coming weeks and months.

Call me crazy, But I don't think the NFL will give up on MIke just yet. Everyone loves a redemption story.

Redemption story? Are you kidding?! He lied straight in the face of Roger Goodell. You think Sheriff Roger isn't going to that personal as well as the boss of the league who is trying to set a new discipline standard? I think if the gambling charges come on -- Vick is gone for life. If not, Roger will punish him as far as the players association will allow AND a new rule will be implemented. You get caught doing ANYTHING even remotely like this and it will be an automatic Life Suspension PLUS you would have to pay back any prorated siging bonus. I agree that this is only the tip of the iceberg though and I think 'Ol Clinto Portis will be first under investigation.

By the end of this, a lot of reputations and reverberations through the NFL will ensue. I guess it's time to see how far the rabbit hole goes.

Certain NFL players are shaking in their cleats right now. MVick is negotiating to with the Big Boys right now and the Big Boys like a case with legs. They are offering Vick a month off for every big name he gives up, and we might just see other professional athletes sucked into this quagmire. MVick is all about MVick, and he is currently rolling over on other guys like a two cigarette prison butt mongrel. I don t think this ends with him pleading out, I think it begins.
Having said that, I also thought Britney and Kevin would be together forever.
I feel so foolish.,,

I'm inclined to agree with BCranky. I'd bet there are a few players hiding under rocks right now.
And, uncdajo, it would still happen to others if they were caught. It just wouldn't be pasted all over the news because regular people aren't news worthy.

There won't be a trial. Vick will plea guilty or no contest. Then he'll roll on others involved in dogfighting. That's it.

BCranky is a nut that makes a few excellent points. Sadly, this is just the beginning, not the end. Vick would not be contemplating such a sweet plea deal if he didn't have information the Feds want. If they chose to enforce the RICO laws he broke, he would be facing upwards of 20 years in prison and they appear to be content with him serving less than a tenth of that.
uncdajo,
I don't know the answer to your question. I do know for a fact that none of this would be happening (to Michael Vick) if he had not fought dogs illegally. One ounce of prevention woulda gone a long way here. What is your point??
