Falcons owner Arthur Blank would not say that he plans to cut embattled quarterback Michael Vick. However, he did say that once all facts are gathered regarding Vick's alleged involvement in a dogfighting ring and the execution of dogs, the team would "move very decisively."

the falcons will have no choice but to react once the case is over.

Not sure what racial comments have been made over the many threads regarding Vick. Honestly, I would see that there were hundreds of comments, and not even bother ( I just don't have the time or patience). I completely agree with you JFKJR. It's now time to grow up and move on. It makes me sick to see so much racism. I have seen it on both sides. I grew up in a very small town filled with a very small minded white population; most of them who had never had contact with a person of any color except for watching MTV. Then, I went away to college and moved into an extremely poor part of town. I was litteraly the ONLY white person on my entire block. I had the windows smashed out of my car on numerous occasion (while the others were left alone), and it got to the point that depending on what time of day it was, I was not "welcome" at the local gas station. So yes, it's sick all around, but I digress. This Vick thing has nothing to do with race. It has to do with a sick man who has the need to gamble and make money on the torture and death of living creatures. He made a ton of money in the NFL, not to mention his endorsements, yet he still felt the need to be involved in this disgusting act. I don't care if he's white, black, yellow, or freaking purple! This man needs to take a long vacation in prison and never be allowed to touch a football again for as long as he lives.

With the looming plea bargain a lock, I think we can dispense with the "alleged" anything in this case.

It is what it is...no racial or discriminatory anything here...cut and dry **** no matter where he comes from!

All the facts are gathered Arty....its damage control time. The sooner Atlanta cuts ties to this guy, the quicker they can get on with their season.

What's really sad here is that there are those in Atlanta that still think this guys is innocent...your right JFK, we really do have a long way to go.

Vick is going to be cut. He is going to be in jail for at least a year and he is going to be suspended for at least 2 years. They suspended pacman for a year and in light of what Vick is being accused of, especially financing the gambling, you have to believe that Vick is going to have Roger come down harder on him, because he lied to everyone. Which is really what this whole issue comes down to, what he did is horrible and illegal, but if he had come clean, I think his punishment would have been much lighter, because the gamlbing part would have NEVER come out. The people who think this is racist, need to really look at this point. Gambling cannot be tolerated at all in a sport, because the mere sniff of it suggests cheating, fixes, mafia, etc and yes Vick is not accused of gambling on NFL games, (thank god) which I believe will keep him from a life time suspension, he is accused of financing illegal gambling and that is what the suspension is going to be about. The two people in the NFL who are in charge of his future, his owner and the commissioner were the two people he told that he had nothing to do with dog-fighthing....lesson learned...BE A MAN, own up to what you did and take your punishment and then move on. Kids these days don't feel they need to own up to anything they do and that attitude is prevalent everywhere you look whether it is young sports stars or just joe blow working his way through college...just think what a non-issue this would have been if he said.......yes, some friends of mine and I had some dog fights, I know this is illegal and I apologize for my involvement, this will never happen again, slap on wrist, some fines, maybe probabtion and some community service...story goes away....his team, city and I really believe the NFL not wanting to lose one of its stars, would have rallied behind him

2 years in jail and a lifetime ban.....

August 18, 2007  09:05 AM ET

JFK Jr,

U know its Cdadoe and Antonio that get people going on all that bull corn about race......As long as they aint here, we straight.....

August 18, 2007  09:11 AM ET

I think it is safe to say that MV was bailed out on the water bottle incident. Mr Blanks was dragged into the public to answer for that. After a "long talk" with MV, the last thing he expected was to be dragged into the public eye again with a more serious charge. Especially after they eliminated any competition for MV at QB by trading the backup QB.
As an elite athlete MV has been cuddled by many people (of all races), and it is painful to see that he has made them all to look bad for backing him.
Watching MV accept his fate and the subsequent actions that others have to take is going to be painful. I really wanted to see if he could perform as a complete QB...

Mr. Vick I am personally nominating you for Dumbest Male Athlete of the Year award!

August 18, 2007  09:24 AM ET

CARDS64 how did he get bailed out of the water bottle thing??? there was NO DRUGS and whose is to say there was drugs in there....it was a guard doing too much.....

I think Vick made some bad choices here and should serve some time in prison BUT a lifetime ban NO

he gambled on something that was outside the game.....i'm sure players go to Vegas all the time AND they dont get ban'd

dog-fighting is illegal so he was bet'n on illegal activities......in a lot of states any amount of gamble'n is illegal....so when Micheal Jordan was making bets on golf games THAT WAS ILLEGAL...did we say ban mj...no becoz he wasnt bet'n on the game.....Vick should do time but NOT A LIFETIME BAN...get real.....it was dog-fighting not child molestation

August 18, 2007  09:26 AM ET

I agree JFK Jr.....If it was simply their opinion I wld be fine with that.....

Howeva, cdadoe is so transparent and anybdy cld tell he is behind Vick solely because he is black......He just cant stand to see him fail and fall.....Then he has to bring up why most of Vick's supporters are black and why PETA and Vick's detractors are white.....Probably has something to do with white people being more attached to their animals in my opinion.....

B4 u think I am talking outta the left side of my neck, I am WHITE and grew up on the mean streets of South Central LA so yeah I can say I walked a day in their shoes.....Being 85% black (55%) and latino (30%), white people are dinosaur's in that neck of the woods, so I drew all kinds of stare's and formed a bond with many minorities......So much that I prefer black folks to white folks (looks I get from white folks when I am out with my son or my girlfriend)......

But you are right, we wont see an end to racism in our time.....

August 18, 2007  09:28 AM ET

Man I am totally sick of hearing about this. As a Falcons fan I personally have moved on. He just isn't part of the team anymore and if the allegations are proven to be true I won't even consider him a decent human being.

He should be ashamed for having the world at his feet then being so dumb about it and not being grateful for what he had and basically throwing it all away to indulge a personal habit. That's what sickens me. There are so many people in this world who would die to have just a fraction of the talent/fame/fortune he has(had). He basically insulted us all.

August 18, 2007  09:31 AM ET

Vick will play in the NFL again, but not anytime soon. Prediction: 1 year in jail, and a 2 year suspension from the league....Keep something in mind folks, HE DIDN'T KILL ANYBODY. Yes, he was involved in a disgusting activity, but let's try to put his crime in perspective.

August 18, 2007  09:34 AM ET

Sorry AAA Redskin, he lied to Goodell......Roger isnt gonna take kindly to that.....While Rose bet on games he managed, Vick bet on an ILLEGAL activity like dogfighting AND lied to Goodell about it......2 years in prison and lifetime ban......

August 18, 2007  09:37 AM ET

With Vick the Falcons wld have been looking at a 6-10 record, without him they cld be 2-14 and battling KC for the worst team in the League.....Think Harrington might surprise some people and they pull out a 4-12 record.....

PS: Let's hear it for quality black role model's on the Falcons like Warrick Dunn who is a "pro" and contributes to society by donating cash and putting in time with Habitat for Humanity and The United Way.....

August 18, 2007  09:38 AM ET

Now if a news story broke with Warrick Dunn being accused of a dog fighting ring or raping a woman, I wldnt be able to believe it......He is a shining example of what Goodell wants in the NFL and what Stern wld like in the NBA.....

August 18, 2007  09:40 AM ET

No, I think he's done (assuming he serves jail time). You can't honestly tell me that you believe that any team out there is going to pick up a player who hasn't been on the field for 3-5years. He's gonna be done, as well he should be. Sure, he didn't kill anyONE, and he's not a child molester, but what he did was illegal and immoral. You can be a fool with a dollar, but you're an absolute moron with millions. It's about time the NFL takes a stand and sets a precident saying that they will not tollerate the increasing amount of bull that is going on in the league today. You want to shoot someone, deal drugs, fight dogs, rape women.....you're gone! I guarantee that you take a man like Vick and let everyone know that because of his actions he will never be allowed to play the game again, you will see the league straighten up immediately.

August 18, 2007  09:41 AM ET

At_Home@Wrigley,

I agree.......

August 18, 2007  09:42 AM ET

There is no way in he**, any GM or owner would touch this guy with a 10-ft pole after this incident. The present media frenzy over this would come back the minute a team expressed interest in Vick post-incarceration. In my mind, this guy already ranks up there with such miscreants as OJ and Mike Tyson. Sorry, but as long as fans ($$$$) have a say, this guy will never play.
