09:38 AM ET 08.19 | Curtis Strange, 52, is in his third year on the Champions Tour, a surprising career detour for someone who had found a comfort level in TV. But in 2004, he left the network, knowing he could play the Champions Tour after his 50th birthday the following January. Strange admits that a part of him believed, even as he played his first Champions Tour year, that he would return to TV instead of playing full time. Strange said he does not miss the politics and constant meetings of network television, but he does miss some things. He misses the people, especially play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico, who had become a good friend and with whom he still speaks by telephone every few weeks.
