Player's picks remain controversial

10:46 AM ET 08.20 | The controversy over Gary Player's decision to take Mike Weir as one of his two captain's picks for his International team in next month's Presidents Cup continues. Members of the Royal Montreal Golf Club, which will stage the event, have certainly been parsing Player's decision, which he announced last Monday. Somebody must have found Player's ear about picking Weir. He called Weir a Canadian hero, although he didn't seem all that aware of his popularity during a Presidents Cup press conference last February.
