D.C. United's Josh Gros, who suffered his second concussion this year while routinely heading the ball Saturday night, might end up missing the rest of the MLS season. The club is arranging for him to see a neurologist in the Washington area and considering sending him to a specialist in Pittsburgh. While team officials are taking a cautious approach in hopes that Gros will return soon, sources close to the team and the player said yesterday that there is growing concern the career of the fourth-year midfielder-defender is in jeopardy and he should not play again this season.

That's a crying shame. But, you can't play soccer if you can't head the ball. I mean, you could, but in a very diminished capacity. Don't want to mess with your head, though. It's not like an ankle or a knee. You can buy a titanium or platinum knee but.......brains? They're harder to come by!

yep, a shame. heading is one of the finest arts of the worlds game.

what a shame. josh provides great energy to united where ever he plays on the field. if he really cant play, he will be missed.

This is a sad story. Not being able to head the ball?

Thierry Henry has been playing without heading the ball for years, Josh should have 8-10 more years in him. :p

In all seriousness, that would be a shame if he has to pack it in after only 4 years. Hopefully he can recover.

Gros never had the greatest technical ability/ball skills, but he NEVER stopped hustling whenever he was on the field. United will surely miss him.

taking a cautious approach? just sit him the rest of the season to be safe. i hate it when teams try to force someone back from something that should take time

i.e. Daunte Culpepper with his knee & the Dolphins

let the guy recover, he'll most likely have post concussion illness. and ill make sure to have my boys in Steel Town to make sure he gets treated great =) (oh yeah, since Gridiron is almost here...GO STEELERS)
