Kirk Radomski, the former Mets clubhouse attendant who admitted selling steroids to scores of major leaguers, recently has provided names of users in a meeting with baseball's lead steroid investigator, George Mitchell, SI.com has learned.

If the Mets had a guy on the inside selling steriods why did they suck for all those years? I guess steriods dont really make that big of a difference then.

August 22, 2007  09:29 AM ET

aap,

That is awesome. One of those years the Mets went out and got Bobby Bonilla, Brett Saperhagen, etc. That year was highlighted by Bobby Bonillas ear plugs and 100 plus lose season!

I'm a Mets fan, but aap1970 has a point. They must have been getting some very poor quality steroids.

August 22, 2007  09:48 AM ET

If you suck, you will still suck with steroids. You'll just be stronger while you stink up the joint.......

August 22, 2007  09:54 AM ET

Kirk is a yellow canary.

August 22, 2007  09:57 AM ET

Well you have to be able to hit a ball for the steroids to benefit you.

If you are leading the league in K's before you are on the juice, you are going to do the same after. You just strike out swinging harder.

Canseco, McGwire, Bonds, Giambi were all good hitters before they were on the junk.

And when the Mets got Bobby Bo he was old.

We all knew this guy was going to spill the beans...
What, no leaks yet?

August 22, 2007  10:24 AM ET

So steroids make you lose?

August 22, 2007  10:36 AM ET

HAHA... Pro athletes get their drugs from doctors, not janitors lol

August 22, 2007  10:55 AM ET

Steroids in baseball???????? Wow, this a shock to the system and breaking news . If you live in the mountains of Tibet. I just want to see the names.

August 22, 2007  10:58 AM ET

I want to hear the names. I really don't care if this guy is a canary or not. And, I don't care whose names are mentioned as long as there is evidence to back it up. Solid evidence, and, not hearsay.
The time has come for these athletes to become accountable for their actions. the playing field needs to be evened out so that all atheletes compete on the same level. If your ability makes you that much better than the other guy then so be it. If, as I believe the case is with Jason Giambi and Mark McGwire and Rafael Palmiero, you enhance your natural abilities to marketedly out distance your peers then there needs to be some type of accountability for this. I know I left Barry Bonds out of the equation: I believe none of his numbers are completely out the ordinary for him EXCEPT for the year he hit 73 HRs. If he winds up being guilty of steriod use then he too should be held accoutable, also. Strike the 73 from the books and reduce it to his average for the previous years before he hit that number. Now, Hank's record is still intact. If there is no proof he did steriods then he alone holds the record until the next player can surpass that record. It may not be perfect but it is the way I would do it.

August 22, 2007  10:59 AM ET

Phillypower,
The answer, (and no pun is intended here), is that in the end they make you lose, yes.

August 22, 2007  11:00 AM ET

Yeah, the guy who did the team's laundry held lots of sway, I'm sure.

Going only after the users and peeon dealers is a cheap and lazy way to dupe the public into believing MLB is doing its job. Radomski gives up his suppliers and the suits in the front office that turned a blind eye.

August 22, 2007  11:05 AM ET

It needs to start somewhere. Catch enough little fish and eventually someone will drop a dime on the bigger fish. (God, that saying is old and underinflated these days.)

August 22, 2007  11:25 AM ET

yawn...

August 22, 2007  11:33 AM ET

Really??? "Scores" of baseball players have been taking steroids??? And this is news? Well thank you Mr. clubhouse attendant for rephrasing what everyone already knows. Now let's see the proof that goes along with the 'scores' of names that you have dropped for us.

August 22, 2007  11:38 AM ET

Call me sexist but At_Home@Wrigely gets my vote for best icon.

August 22, 2007  12:04 PM ET

We will never, ever hear that list of names.

August 22, 2007  12:06 PM ET

What's this about only striking Bonds' 73? Like he did steroids for only one year? You're assuming skills don't diminish.

If that attendant was selling to Mets players, he must have selling Vitamin C instead of steroids.

So where are the names??? HUH??????
