Although the Dodgers are believed to have at least some interest in veteran left-hander David Wells, who was released by San Diego last Wednesday, there is little indication either way of how likely they are to sign him.

Is this on?

August 22, 2007  09:56 AM ET

Yeah, this will really help the Dodgers catch up to the D-backs.

August 22, 2007  09:57 AM ET

So the Dodgers are no longer interested in winning ballgames?

Interesting.

August 22, 2007  10:17 AM ET

They must be hurting for a starter, bad.

By the way, any dodgers fans out there, how is Proctor doing? I am serious, i don't get to see those games.

I was waiting for the rst of the headline. Dodgers interested in Wells.....jersey to use as tarp for field. Because he's fat, I bet no one would dream of making a fat joke.

August 22, 2007  11:05 AM ET

any other year with the dodgers history of great pitching i would laugh at this , but the way tomko and hendrickson have been pitching i say why the hell not ?. plug wells in the 5th spot drop those 2 losers ,and hopefully wells pitches with a chip on his shoulder and helps us in to the playoffs.

fat Wells the whoooore will go anywhere his shingle can get tacked...for a bucka two...

August 22, 2007  11:40 AM ET

wouldn't most minor leagers?

August 22, 2007  11:46 AM ET

I sign him..to serve beer at Chavez Ravine...

August 22, 2007  12:31 PM ET

Question for the Dodgers . . . why?

August 22, 2007  12:33 PM ET

Is there an abundance of Dodger Dogs in the clubhouse they need to get rid of?

August 22, 2007  12:34 PM ET

Wells would be a good signing for them. He's better than Bret Tomko who's 2-11

August 22, 2007  12:51 PM ET

Dodgers are going after scraps.

Why did they sign Tomko in the first place?

August 22, 2007  01:09 PM ET

Sign him to 1 Krispy Kreme donut for every K he earn.....they will be UNSTOPPABLE!

August 22, 2007  01:45 PM ET

They might as well get Kip Wells instead.

August 22, 2007  01:59 PM ET

The only one interested in landing Wells is Captain Ahab.

And his steel-balls pal, Captain Queeg.

August 22, 2007  02:00 PM ET

wells should be co-spokesman for the bacon lovers omelet alongside chris berman. the dodgers need to get jose contreras to solidify their rotation

lowe
penny
contreras
billingsley
wolf

<<< how about that for a rotation?

August 22, 2007  05:20 PM ET

Is this a joke?

August 22, 2007  05:28 PM ET

I think they will sign him just to eat Tomko.

August 22, 2007  06:22 PM ET

The Dodgers are on the verge of needing to look to next season - there's no benefit in picking up Wells, even on the cheap...

Unless it's maybe as their closer, at an all-night buffet...
