Oklahoma's three-man race for starting quarterback that began last spring ended Tuesday as coach Bob Stoops announced redshirt freshman Sam Bradford will start the season opener Sept. 1 against North Texas. Bradford separated himself from junior Joey Halzle of Huntington Beach, Calif., and freshman Keith Nichol of Lowell, Mich., during the Sooners' second major scrimmage Saturday. Bradford completed 12 of 17 passes for 130 yards and four touchdowns despite playing in a steady rain. Stoops said Bradford has been more consistent.

Stoops is still whining about that loss at Oregon. We beat them fair and square. GO DUCKS!!

August 22, 2007  10:15 AM ET

No you didn't. The Pac-10 head of officials even agreed with Stoops.

""There was no problem with technology. ??? There was a mixup in the (instant replay) booth that caused the glitch.'' " A quote from Verle Sorgen admitting that the play was miscalled due to a tech's error.

Boise State 43-Oklahoma 42.....End of story

August 22, 2007  12:11 PM ET

miami is dominating south fla recruiting again and next yr will be competing for the national championship

August 22, 2007  12:33 PM ET

Bradford will start but I bet Nichol will end up under center soon enough.

August 22, 2007  01:38 PM ET

Bradford will start for know but he won't be able to hold off Nichol, who is more athletic, has a stronger arm, and has the potential to lead th Sooners for the next 4 years.

I have a 3 week old TD that only 3 people have voted on b/c of TURFgeek, so please take a look at that. Thanks.

August 22, 2007  05:49 PM ET

thats why they play the game.talent wise miami was better then 7-6.they had struggles at qb and underachieved.they did send 3 guys in the first round and coker didnt motivate and was a dud.i think it will be a tougher game then u think, especially with oklahoma starting a redshirt freshman qb

August 22, 2007  07:30 PM ET

do work son.......in your reply also that its 1988 ,miami won the national championship in 2001,played for it and if not for a horrible pass interfence call should of won it 2002and we should of played OU in 2000 for the national championship.we beat fsu that yr and somehow they still ended up playing u for the title

August 22, 2007  11:49 PM ET

ur d is stacked,i agree.maybe the best in the nation,we are going to have to stack the line and make your qb beat us.hope its a good game.it will be a barometer to see where the canes are at.im looking forward to it

August 23, 2007  02:37 AM ET

Wow are we actually debating the Miami game on here? Come on guys lets not waste the thread. Bradford for Heisman!

August 23, 2007  05:58 AM ET

We will have to see at the Red River Rivalry........That is the only game that matters anyway. Everyone is picking OU......Just wait boys! We will get a 3-peat!

August 23, 2007  07:51 AM ET

Oregon's uniform sucks so therefore so does your team, they are the laughingstock of America because of those things. Change those and then we'll talk again, lol. And no, you got handed a victory, anyone who's unbiased; I am, I went to Oklahoma and hated it and thus am not a big lover of the Sooners; can plainly see that but go ahead and keep dreaming Duckies...= D LMAO!

August 23, 2007  10:09 AM ET

I like that.....We have a Young patchwork secondary......true. But with all the guys that were drafted last season from our secondary....Do you realize they were one of the worst secondaries in the NCAA....

You lost DE Larry Birdine, DE CJ Ah You, DE Calvin T., RB Adrian Peterson, QB Paul Thompson, OLB Rufus Alexander, MLB Zach Latimmer............

OU has got both sides loaded. We are just fine in the running game. We are the deepest in the Nation at DE. Our Defensive Line and Linebackers will be Great. We lost two guys on the OLine. That is fine. We have plenty of guys waiting to replace them.

You better hope that your new QB can get the Ball to Malcolm Kelly.

I wonder why you guys are so good in Oklahoma.........That's right. 95% of your good players are from Texas.

August 23, 2007  04:02 PM ET

OREGON, USC AND TEXAS ALL HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON! THEY ALL THREE ARE GOING TO BE FLAT ON THEIR BACK LOOKING UP THE RANKINGS AT THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS...PUNK **** WIMPS. All you little whiney wimps who think you have got a chance this season Miami, Texas ect. Well see when your giving excuses after we beat your ****.

August 23, 2007  08:50 PM ET

soonerborn......i like the confidence, its almost like a cane type of attitude

August 24, 2007  03:29 PM ET

Why is Boise ranked behind OU?? we whooped their butts and should be higher than those losers
