An agreement between FC Dallas and Shaka Hislop will allow the backup goaltender to retire early. Hislop has been out the last month with back spasms. He last dressed for FC Dallas' SuperLiga opener against Chivas of Guadalajara on July 24, but he did not play. Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse Jr., a developmental player, could be moved into Hislop's spot on the senior roster.

Hislop is a bit of a sad story, considering he was one of the MLS's first Premier League imports. He didn't get a chance to show why he started at the highest level for 14 years.

In the 2006 World Cup he held Sweden to a draw. And Trinidad and Tobago had 10 men for most of the 2nd half. Impressive.

Shaka is a great, very underrated keeper, I remember watching him train at west ham and the guy was just fantastic, as a keeper and a person. I wish him well and hope he gets appreciation for the great keeper he is.

Yep, he had some memorable performances in the WC with trinidad. If he was 100%, he would easily be the best keeper in MLS.

Howard University represent, led us to the NCAA soccer final 4 waaaaay back in the day. Don't think an HBCU has ever made it that far in the soccer tourney.

Shaka Hislop made me lose my voice holding Trinidad to a draw. As a Trinidadian I am sad to see what has happened to him with his health but I wish him luck, and thank him for everything.

He is the reason why the Soca Warriors were the story of the '06 Cup.

a bit of anti-climax for Shaka after a great WC. The simple truth though is he wasn't better than Sala.

this sounds like the best move for him. hopefully Dallas or another team in the league will find a coaching position for him. young keepers could learn a lot from him.

when i first heard that he was going to the MLS i was so excited. his WC made him seem like he would be a great keeper. and when i heard it was to FCD, i got even more excited cuz i hate Sala and his stupid lil attitude =)

it is sad that he hardly got to play. but hopefully he finds a team somewhere to get some playing time and show his skills
