Did HBO help to end LJ's holdout?

It seems the folks at HBO's "Hard Knocks" were slightly concerned about Larry Johnson's quote in the Star on Wednesday, a quote explaining why he finally chose to sign. The guys on the "Hard Knocks" staff would tell me and show me interviews from guys on the team saying they missed me," LJ told Star columnist Jason Whitlock. "That really got me." The implication is that "Hard Knocks" went beyond the boundaries of coverage and somehow influenced LJ's decision to sign. Not the case, said HBO spokesman Kevin Flaherty.

Watching The NFL Network inspires me to play Madden.

The new and improved NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE AGAIN NETWORK

God forbid someone finds out they're missed. There has to be a story actually worth reporting out there, come on.

I think $19 million guranteed influenced his decision. I don't think LJ cared if anybody missed him...

August 23, 2007  09:23 AM ET

Wait a minute... you get HBO and Cinemax bundled two for one? I'm paying for HBO but I'm not getting the softcore channel... aww, I'm missing out.

August 23, 2007  09:42 AM ET

not getting hbo AND cinemax? Contact your local cable provider for details. Tell them you want the value package. Not available in all areas.

I think L.J. sold himself short. Only 19 million guaranteed? That's all he held out for? Rookie contracts get more than 19 mill. guaranteed.

You'll doubtlessly be pleased to know that I have, in the light of recent domestic devolpments, decide to become a Trappist Monk.

I kind of dig the outfits.

Keep it lively.

And never take a shower with an orangutan.

That's because rookie contracts are ridiculous. LJ got a fair deal in my opinion.

Urnze,

I just finished my last bottle of Chimay Blue the other day. I'm sad.

"beyond the boundaries"? So they can invade players' private lives, report falsities without any substantiation, and print trash about players, but the instant they mention that a player's teammates - who can't win a GAME without him - say they miss him, its over-stepping boundaries? Give me a break.

August 23, 2007  11:05 AM ET

Of course they miss LJ, he is a land monster!
