Currently there are at least two players out there who the Bucs believe can make them better. Jeremiah Trotter, who was released by the Eagles in a surprise move three days ago, is one of them. Former Buc Al Singleton is the other.

there HAS to be something wrong with Trotter for the Eagles to dump him the way they did, but if not, you gotta think he's still got at least a couple more years of servicablilty left in him

The Bucs are interested in every player on the market. They have real personel issues and Gruden is grasping for any straw that can save him. Not going to happen.

We've got graet depth at LB. Granted we lost our 2rd string backup, but do we really need to sign either one of these guys?

Trotter = Porter = washed-up has-beens.

AH, ONCE AGAIN THE CHUCKSTER PROVES HOW ADEPT HE IS IN PLAYER EVALUATIONS...WASHED UP VERTERANS TO THE RESCUE...OF COURSE, THIS BELIEF MAKES B. RUUD ALL WARM AND FUZZY...

trotter on just about any team including the steelers would be a major upgrade , unless there is something not being said about his health besides age...

Old linebackers mean bad news. Chad Brown, Junior Seau, and Jason Gildon are good examples of that.

August 24, 2007  02:01 PM ET

Two linebackers at once? Can the Bucs two-time without the two finding out? Will they be up for a possbible three-way with Jon Gruden? Tune in next week on...Coach to lose job collects any player he can.

Trotter's knees are gone. He still has some ability to stop the run a bit but he can't cover a TE let alone a slot receiver. When he's on the field, he's just an easy target.

August 24, 2007  02:37 PM ET

As a huge Bucs fan it does make me cringe thinking of the upcoming season when we are interested in every player on the scrap heap. I think we are moving in the right direction getting younger, but then we fall right back into the trap of signing over the hill vets. Let's go with what we got.

August 24, 2007  03:54 PM ET

Got to give kudos to the Eagles for not publicly stating why they cut Trotter. By keeping it a mystery, they have not tainted him for other teams. He will wind up somewhere got to believe he will beat out Al Singleton for a job. But if not with Tampa then maybe a another team that just wants to add depth. I am sure the Eagles prefer it would be some other division.
