Ex-Knick destined for Heat, Cavs?

Former Knick Allan Houston believes there's a good chance he'll be back in the NBA next season, and although he wasn't saying where, Miami and Cleveland are logical places. He'd have a friend in Miami in Pat Riley, his former coach with the Knicks, and the Cavaliers are looking for a shooter to ease the load of LeBron James.

florida really is the place to retire...

August 26, 2007  09:11 AM ET

Go to Miami and u can roate with Penny at SF......

August 26, 2007  11:28 AM ET

Does Allan Houston even play defense or did he only have to play offense in NY & the same w/Penny.

August 26, 2007  11:30 AM ET

While it was years ago, he wasn't horrible on D. Then again, he had Ewing behind him ...

August 26, 2007  02:45 PM ET

god, what the hell r the heat doing?????????

August 26, 2007  02:48 PM ET

why dont hte heat bring back glen rice?im serious.hes a fan favorite and with shaq inside he can still bury it from outside.he doesnt have bad knees like penny or houston and not as old as reggie miller.

All new Heat players must attend AARP meetings.

So .. when are they gonna offer a contract to Scottie Pippen?

August 26, 2007  04:17 PM ET

Christ....wtf are the heat thinking? Why are they assembling a geriatric team?

August 26, 2007  05:14 PM ET

no they're assembling a 90's all star team..you got mourning, shaq, penny, houston too bad they cut payton now they have gotta get reggie, webber or pippen too complete the line up...

August 26, 2007  06:24 PM ET

Houston has never played for Riley. He came to the Knicks for the 96-97 season. Riley's last season with the Knicks was 94-95.

i know hoston is a vols alm but i hated him when he was a knick. i wonder if miami fans can forvive him for destroying s in those playoff series

Great!! Houston to heat! I must also remind Riley that Webber and Juan Howard are also available!!! A pity Miller pulled out. Would have been great to wattch:
Shaq, Webber, Houston, Miller, Payton and WALKER 'play' together !! hehehehe - I meant play senior ball :-)

August 26, 2007  08:32 PM ET

Houston was never that great in NY, once they gave him that fat contract. He played better ball in Detroit.

August 26, 2007  08:40 PM ET

Why do we keep talking about these 40 somethings in the NBA? There is no way that any of them are going to actually make a comeback.

August 26, 2007  08:42 PM ET

Another media-fabricated "story".

August 26, 2007  10:35 PM ET

lol, the heat are making a big mistake i think picking up houstan... but if its cheap and short contract, what is really the harm... i honestly think they are making their line-up worse but obviously they don't have much cap space or possible movable players to make some offerings... doesn't matter, they are just setting themselves for the playoffs not to be contenders anyways... i think riley just doesn't want to be blamed for their unsuccessful season the coming year

August 27, 2007  11:02 AM ET

I think he mismanaged his money and is just looking for another one of those guaranteed contracts.

August 27, 2007  04:03 PM ET

I believe he should just stay on ESPN's roster. The game is too fast for him.

August 27, 2007  06:57 PM ET

um ... great story but Houston never played for the knicks when Riley was the coach?

August 27, 2007  10:26 PM ET

Allan houston played better ball in NY than detroit
