Ben Gordon hopes to be able to work out a contract extension with the Bulls before the team's Oct. 31 season opener against the Nets. Gordon already has changed agents as he seeks his new contract. He left Billy Ceisler and is now represented by Raymond Brothers, who's based out of Los Angeles. Without going into specific dollar amounts and revealing how much he thinks he's worth, he simply said he wants to be compensated fairly.

Didja keep wifey happy last night???

August 26, 2007  11:19 AM ET

djroxalot why doesn't it sound good the Bulls have enough money to resign him without a problem.

August 26, 2007  11:27 AM ET

What does Gordon want 6yrs 70 mil??

August 26, 2007  01:03 PM ET

john paxson, please dont give an undersized pure scorer who's only okay on defense $10M/yr unless it's part of a sign-and-trade for kobe or a true 20-pt post scorer not named eddy curry or zach randolph. now luol deng on the other hand.........

August 26, 2007  01:20 PM ET

Chendaddy thats what is going to happen.

August 26, 2007  02:59 PM ET

Pay him or give him to the Pacers, please.

August 26, 2007  03:07 PM ET

Paxson will pay him. He is obsessed with keeping his core together (deng, hinrich, gordon) and I believe Ben knows his place on the team and therefore will not demand Darius Miles money. Haha

Ben Gordon is another Rashard Lewis. Don't give him Rashard Lewis money!

August 26, 2007  03:29 PM ET

he'll get something....john likes pushing 2 the deadline...kirk didnt sign his contract til the night before the first game of the season...so be patient...

August 26, 2007  06:10 PM ET

I say try to trade him preferably for a low post threat but they are hard to come by. In any event I'm not fond of over paying shooting guards that are really the size of point guards. Don't get me wrong I think Ben Gordon is a really good player but if he is eating up to much of the salary cap and prohibiting you from signing other talented players he isn't worth it.

August 26, 2007  07:01 PM ET

RR-AR - Wallace atleast got em a ring?? money well spent from that account...overpaid? Yeah I agree.
Gordon will end up asking 65-70 per 5 I think. Is he worth it? The more relevant questions is: is he worth that much TO THE BULLS? Prolly yes, given that the team is jelled pretty well together and making him a 'franchise player' would prolly making him more motivated to contribute (AND share!)

August 27, 2007  03:59 AM ET

$48mil in 4 years is i think enough for him already, i tell you that he's NOT a total swingman in which he can dominate the entire floor, he need a team to be able to execute his skills. SO my advise to paxson,, dont give gordon too much but not too liittle...

August 27, 2007  10:31 AM ET

48mil for four years sound good with maybe seven mil in signing bonus

August 27, 2007  11:41 AM ET

John Paxson is so **** smart he's paying Ben Wallace, Nocioni, and Kirk Hinrich (all 5yr contracts) all have very high salaries early in their contract year and decreasing it every year after. While he's gonna pay Gordon , Deng cheap at the start of their contracts and increase it as years go on, that way we never go over the payroll and still keep the core together, feels good to have a great G.M.

August 27, 2007  08:06 PM ET

I don't know if what DABEARS said is true, but it does make sense. No way Gordon or Deng get out of Chicago unless we send them somewhere in a trade. MOney will not be an issue here!

Deng will get his extrension before gorgfan, gordon is a scorer for sure, but deng is the best basketball player on the flOOR FOR THE BULLS, DENG WILL be the building block of the bulls future. he been really working on his post game and 3 point shot, if he can get one of those skill close tohis midreange games, and attacking the basket game, OMG is he going to be a beast. PAX i give all credit, even though some poepl bash him for not going for KG but hey i think he know what he doing, and i think gordon will be a sign and trade, only reason why is that TAVO is really impressing people with his game. he will be starting SG for bulls after next year.
