Bruins cut off Bergeron inquiries
Persistent rumors on the Internet this summer have hinted that the Bruins were looking to deal Patrice Bergeron. Never the case, said general manager Peter Chiarelli, who confirmed that Montreal GM Bob Gainey called him at the February trade deadline to inquire about the Quebec-born pivot. "Anyone who has called, I've emphatically told them we're not interested," said Chiarelli.

Bergeron is NOT Thornton. Be he is solid. But if Montreal was interested, who cares? GM field calls all the time!

Yeah, well, good for Chiarelli - they need to work REAL hard in Boston to change the reputation of that franchise...keeping Bergeron is part of that. Why trade the ONE over acheiver you have on your team? This guy seems to have really become the unofficial leader of that squad, they gotta keep him.

Bergeron plays great against Montreal, but I don't know if he hates Montreal. He just plays great against his hometown team, like Mario Lemieux used to. Gainey probably wants him because: 1) he's good; 2) he's French Canadian and 3) he kills the Habs
