Georgia coach retracts criticism

Georgia coach Mark Richt decided to issue a statement Sunday night. In it, he said he regretted speaking critically this past Friday about the fact that UGA does not have an indoor practice facility. He also insisted that the statement was "heartfelt" and borne of "his own conscience" and not issued at the insistence of the school's athletics or academic administrators. Richt has long expressed his hope that UGA would build an indoor practice facility in which the Bulldogs could escape the elements without affecting their practice schedule. At times, they've had to bus over to the Ramsey Student Center and practice on basketball courts or to Suwanee to use the Atlanta Falcons' indoor facility so as to not lose a day of preparation time, which is limited by NCAA rules.
