How long will Vick be in jail?

Judge Henry E. Hudson is expected to set a sentencing date for Michael Vick before the end of this year. Through his plea deal with federal prosecutors, Vick faces between 12 and 18 months in prison, according to federal sentencing guidelines. In reaching the plea deal with Vick, prosecutors have agreed to recommend a sentence on the low end of that range. Hudson, however, could give more time if he sees fit. Hudson, known for handing out harsh sentences when the facts warrant, has already said the circumstances in the case are particularly aggravating.

The low end might as well be a life sentence. Vick's reputation is beyond tarnished, it's destroyed. Too bad he's not big enough to join Pacman in pro wrestling....

This is news? This has been said a thousand times, do the crime do the time, simple as that.

Please, give Vick the chair so I dont have see anymore articles on him.

August 27, 2007  09:01 AM ET

Vick will get 12 months for his cooperation with the feds...Late cooperation but it still counts for somethin..

August 27, 2007  09:04 AM ET

ALL OF YOU **** are still saying the same things.....so what..we are still talking about dogs...filthy a-s stupid dogs....no one cares except for the white people that want to see mike vick persecuted anyway...I havne talked to one black person who feels that he should go to jail...but whites sure do want to see him destroyed...why is that?....I think we all know why...its a sham....a racist sham...ok so you suspend the guy...you fine the guy....you give him community srvice or something...but to destroy the man over some filthy a-s animals is pure racist...and I dont give a da-m about the race card...this is racial..

August 27, 2007  09:11 AM ET

Nice Antonio...you should get with djroxalot! He feels the same you do! It has nothing to do with the "race" card! What he did was ILLEGAL. If Tom Brady did this I would have the same feelings on the matter. By you saying it's just "da-n dogs" truly shows a lot about your character.

August 27, 2007  09:17 AM ET

bulls**t its racial, antonio, you punk. HE BROKE THE LAW. What can be more simple than that? Because he's black, he SHOULDN'T be punished? Give me a break. Idiot. While I agree that this story has gotten blown out of proportion, Vick FINANCED an illegal, underground activity - including illegal gambling - and then LIED about it in a public press conference. The guy is supposed to a role-model, for crissakes, and now he should be above the law because he's a black man? YOU, Antonio, are the racist, if that is what you believe. Vick ain't no monster, like too many people are saying, but he certainly deserves to do his time, like anybody else who breaks the law. I KNOW I wouldn't have been given this kind of latitude if I had been caught doing the same thing - should I play the race card too? I'm sick of people not taking responsibility for their actions and hiding behind ridiculous defences like this. If you're SO OPPRESSED, move to another country, a**hole.

August 27, 2007  09:18 AM ET

If dogs are a race then yes this is a racial crime.

August 27, 2007  09:19 AM ET

antonio Thank the Lord 99% of Black people aren't like you!!!!!!!!!!!

August 27, 2007  09:20 AM ET

Antonio is still convinced this is just about harmlessly killing a few dogs. Did you read the summary of facts Vick signed off on? I seriously doubt it.

I don't know who you are talking to, but I know PLENTY of black people who are disgusted with what he did and think he deserves whatever punishment is given him. There are a countless number of black writers who have made their opinion know as well.

He also agreed to fully cooperate and drop as many names as possible.

August 27, 2007  09:22 AM ET

Vick won't be put away long enough. Even in his plea deal he side stepped the idea that he had anything to do with it. Disgusting and I hope he never plays football again.

And antonio if you show the same disdain to every other creature on the planet as you do a dog, then you might as well pack it in right now.

People need to understand that with a 10 year $130million contract, there comes responsibility. If you can't be a man, then you don't deserve that money.

August 27, 2007  09:23 AM ET

Speaking of the whole race card issue.....with lots of good issues the NAACP could be talking about why is it they are focusing on whether or not a guy who ran an illegal dogfighting ring gets to play football again? Priorities people.

August 27, 2007  09:25 AM ET

Antonio is just mad becasue his boy admitted to being guilty after he defended him and said he wasnt part of it. It's illegal Antonio whether you agree with it or not. He knew it was illegal and he got busted and now he is doing what his boys did and ratting out other people. This isn't about race. It's about being a decent human being and Vick is far from it.

August 27, 2007  09:30 AM ET

Antonio just opened the door! He is above the law! He thinks Vick is above the law! Yes, thank God he doesn't think like an educated black person! Most of us living in this country know right from wrong. Obviously Mr. Antonio missed the class on morals and ethics!

August 27, 2007  09:33 AM ET

BigBlue, did you see what hte head of the Atlanta Chapter of the NAACP said about Vick? One of the most ignorant statements I've ever heard. I am so sick and tired of people defending his behavior. Why can't people just say what he did was disgusting? I have no problem with him trying to play in the NFL once he serves his time and suspension, but I wouldn't want my team signing him.

August 27, 2007  09:35 AM ET

Someone's always got to play the race card. Too bad for you Antonio that it's not a trump card. If I found out my white neighbor was fighting/killing dogs, I would turn him in and testify against him to put him away for as long as I possibly could. I don't care what color you are. And on top of that, Vick is going away for more than simply fighting some dogs. If you want to make such a bold statement to say that everyone posting here is a racist, you had better take your head out of your A** and look at the entire situation, rather than just the points that work with your opinion you jackhole!

August 27, 2007  09:36 AM ET

He'll get less than 6 months and he might be allowed to do it in home confinement. The plea deal only charges him with interstate commerce gambling and he's now coperating with the feds so he'll get off very easy. I would say maybe 6 months in jail...plus 6 on home confinement and he'll be back in a uniform next year.

August 27, 2007  09:37 AM ET

So according to Antonio, the law does not apply to people of color.

Thanks for the heads up.

It also charges him with Sponsoring An Animal in a Dogfighting Venture.

Also read the summary of facts that Vick signed off on. I posted a link to it. It's really disturbing.
