Although he spent the first half of August working out at an Arizona training facility, Larry Johnson realizes he's not in "football shape." He said he may not be ready to handle his normal workload until the third or fourth game of the season. Chiefs fans eager for the 2007 debut of Johnson may not have to wait until the regular-season opener Sept. 9. Johnson said after Sunday's workout that he intends to play in Thursday's preseason finale against St. Louis.

Wha???????? Sitting out affects your performance????????????

August 27, 2007  09:49 AM ET

On the HBO special, he look pretty good, TV works wonders

August 27, 2007  09:57 AM ET

not that the chiefs ever had a real shot at glory, but damn, way to let the team down brotha...

I am not a fan of holdouts but when a player holds out and doesn't even show up in shape to play that is just flat out wrong. There should be some form of punishment if a player holds out and hurts his team by being unable to perform.

Perfect! ok, just once with feeling. HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS???
Sorry AL.but you knew that was coming.

August 27, 2007  10:31 AM ET

LOL. I wrote a blog...but it messed up and didn't save. Okay, This really PIS*ES me off........He better be ready. I drafted him 4th Overall............LJ You better PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chaz,
I didn't get to watch it. But my boy Jacoby Jones keeps going off! I drafted him in the last round in both of my leagues. Sounds like the Zone Blocking scheme is working well hu. Congrats, It is still PRESEASON, however you may very well have found a WR2. They could make a GREAT Duo for many years! Pass the Congrats on to Dbrude!

GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They killed my Cowboys. So for the whole week, I will show them love. In a regular season game........we will call that the BATTLE OF TEXAS. Not preseason!

August 27, 2007  10:37 AM ET

Too bad. It was a great game. JJ really wants to play on this team. He is lighting up everyone. I think Walter will be opening day #2, but not for long. Kubiak is just kinda old school that way. He is going to want a vet in there, even if it is a second tier guy like Walters. It wont be long however. Everything just kinda clicked. As far as just preseason, your right. At the same time, I'd like to point out that first teamers played till the third, and we led the whole game. Great game at any rate.

August 27, 2007  10:38 AM ET

lol..your a good sport AL. A cowboy fan being reasonable....will wonders never cease.

August 27, 2007  10:44 AM ET

Next season I might have to add Shaub and Johnson Jerseys to my to get list. It looks like Texas is getting back where we should be.

August 27, 2007  11:00 AM ET

Its about time.

August 27, 2007  11:03 AM ET

AL, thanks for recognizing the TEXANS efforts against your Boys, Obviously I was pleased, I still think our defense is a little bit away from their potential. Offense is coming around, JJ is the bomb, I will be drafting him as well, actually thinking of drafting the Texans as a DST.

August 27, 2007  11:05 AM ET

I think I got a Steal with the Bears Defense in the 6th round out of 16.

Keep an eye on WR Brandon Marshall for the Broncos......I keep hearing he will be the No.2 WR in Denver.

August 27, 2007  11:06 AM ET

KC NEED TO TRADE HIM TO RDSKINS.

August 27, 2007  11:09 AM ET

I wish my Chiefs had traded him off for draft picks and gone after Darren McFadden in the draft, rather than paying him an exorbitant amount of money for holding out.

August 27, 2007  11:25 AM ET

BALLBRIGHT...SKINS KEEP EYES OPEN FOR HIM

August 27, 2007  11:44 AM ET

He spends weeks trying to soak up more money and the first news once he's finally signed is he'll have less of an impact this year because he's out of shape?

Ergg... my opinion concerning holdouts is holding steady.

L.J. not in 'football shape'

Judging by the threads on T&R today, neither is Fannation.

August 27, 2007  12:03 PM ET

Hey AL, I'm assuming you could have taken Gore with that pick. Conventional wisdom isn't always the best path. I think Gore will have a breakout year this year. Last year, Nolan didn't have much confidence in Gore near the goalline because of a couple of fumbles early. I think he's earned his coaches confidence by now. His TDs should go way up this year.

Pretty sure he'll be fine in week one, since he'll be getting all the carries.
